The Publishing House Bed and Breakfast - Featured Reviews (336)
This was the best B&B I’ve ever stayed at. I loved the design of the place - kind of a modern/industrial vibe but very cozy. We stayed in the Dybek room on the 2nd floor which was spacious & airy, with a huge super-comfortable bed and a big modern bathroom with high end toiletries and nice towels. There was a nice common area on the second floor with a great window seat for reading, and lots of books available. The third floor had a very large common area with comfortable seating, a fireplace, a piano, and a kitchen. There was a fantastic breakfast included, with different hot items every day, as well as pastries, fruit, yogurt, cereal, juice. Fresh made coffee or tea for each person. The mini-fridge was kept stocked with cold drinks, which were available all day. Staff was super friendly.||The location was great. Lots of restaurants in West Loop area. Walkable to Millenium Park and River Walk (1-2 miles) but nearby train station if you don’t want to walk. No reserved parking, but we were always able to find free parking on street in front of hotel.||I loved this place, and will definitely stay here again next time I visit Chicago. Very highly recommended
This is my new favorite spot in Chicago! Will definitely stay again. Everything about our stay was extraordinary. Our room was spacious, I loved the communal space, breakfast was delicious, and the staff was so friendly. It's walkable to the Futon Market area with lots of shopping, bars, and restaurants. The only thing I wish we had was a small fridge in our room.
We stayed at The Publishing House the weekend of our wedding and it was such a wonderful experience! The whole building is beautifully designed and our room (The Carmen) was so spacious and comfortable. The heated floors in the bathroom were a special treat and the bed was incredibly comfy! In the morning the breakfast was delicious and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. The only note is that the check-in staff when we arrived didn't seem aware of the requests we had made when we were booking - this may have just been a miscommunication on our part but it wasn't quite as personalized as I would've expected a small B&B to be! Still a 5 star experience and we will definitely be staying there again.
We bought out the entire facility for two days for our daughter’s wedding. Fantastic experience! Superb service and professionalism. Kimberly and staff excelled at every aspect of providing a seamless experience. Food was great. Rooms were spacious and clean. Staff were friendly and genuinely caring. Recommend enthusiastically and unequivocally. Turned out to be a cherished bonding experience for the wedding party.
I had a wonderful stay at this property! The room was huge, well-decorated, quiet, and very welcoming. The common areas were wonderful for hanging out after a long day. The staff was very friendly and helpful! I appreciate that they had an excellent selection of wines for sale at the hotel. I would like to give Kimberly (owner) a special thank you for all of the info she provided on Chicago, as it was incredibly helpful in trying to determine where I wish to live. Lastly, I loved Louie and Angus, I wish every property had dogs!!!
We hosted our wedding at the Publishing House - and everything was amazing! The rooms are incredibly unique, clean, and homey! All our guests loved their accommodations. The breakfasts are top notch, and the common areas are so inviting and beautiful. I have no notes - whether you’re looking to buy it out for a large group, host a wedding, or just stay the night one-off, this is a grade A bnb.
I visited The Publishing House in fall of 2021 and had a wonderful experience. I have been raving about it and hoping to return ever since. Finally, last week (May 2024), I was able to return for three nights...just before my son leaves Chicago. This is a unique hotel experience...a feast for all senses. Lovely colors, interesting artwork, welcoming plants, round the clock coffee and tea, the most glorious area carpets...every space invites you in. If you want to relax you can read in your room or read, as I did, in a window seat with sun coming in, pillows and throws to increase the comfort...it's like visiting a friend in their most interesting and lovely home. The staff was freindly and helpful at every turn. The breakfast choices each morning were fresh and delicious: fruit salad, muffins or breads, and a choice such as omelette, frittata, waffles, quesadillas. Without any arrogance, the beauty and warmth of this bed and breakfast simply lifts the spirit.
I recently photographed an intimate wedding held at Publishing House and as a wedding photographer, I can safely say this is one of my favorite venues in all of Chicago. The couple getting married stayed overnight in the larger rooms (perfect for getting ready photos, especially the one with the clawfoot tub!), their ceremony was held in one of the living spaces all decked out with florals and the location close to everything in west loop cannot be beat. I love the eclectic vibe of the spaces and there are tons of options for taking photos inside and out!
Amazing Italian Villa in a great location! We had a wonderful stay from the welcome wine in the beautiful kitchen stocked with many yummy food items and delicious local coffee to our private, comfy âVenetianâ suite. Don was very accommodating
My son absolutely loves LifeTough Kids Boxing. He is in his second session, now in intermediates and we canât wait to see where the next level takes him. The coaches are absolutely incredible and the time and dedication they put towards the kids
In Chicago and stopped by this place. Grand opening for them. Wonderful people with a great spirit overall. Had a chance to dive into the whole thing of coffee coming from Ethiopia after meeting their African-American roaster of coffee. Lovely time -
I'm writing this review after taking a full year of classes at Vibez. Initially, I bought class packs and then signed up for the monthly membership (8 classes a month) once I knew it was a good fit. Over the course of 2023, I lost more than 20 pounds
Ive been coming to the Garage Gym heavy AF classes for 6 weeks now and absolutely love them! I was previously just doing one class a week and purchased the five pack, but I decided to move forward with a membership to start going multiple times a wee
I recently joined CrossFit Park Ridge and hands down, best choice Iâve made. Very warm and welcoming community. Workouts are challenging and never boring. And coaches are great! My only regret is not joining sooner. If youâre ready and serious a

This apartment was a great find for us. We had 4 adults and 5 kids and had plenty of space to fit us all comfortably. Importantly for our group the kitchen is well equipped - there have been many places we've stayed where there aren't enough bowls an
I tell all my friends who visit Chicago, or move there to check out Fly Club. The instructors are top-tier and it's a privilege to have so much talent in one facility. The spaces are beautiful, and the community is very welcoming. Even if you're a gu
We love Cafe Calida so much. We came here our last two mornings of our trip and regretted not coming earlier. Great menu with delicious pastries. My husband got a mocha and I got a Chai latte and they were both so delicious. Our first morning we came
Pizza was great. I love this style of pizza. Itâs a great place for a low key date night. Prices were extremely reasonable, especially for the quality. It is a family run business, the family has 2 generations of pizza making experience. Itâs a s
