This place has yet to disappoint and I’ve been there numerous times. While it can take a bit to get the food out (the kitchen is small…. I think there’s only one person working back there), the portions are large, the food tastes great, the mixed drinks I’ve had are very good, and the staff is always very friendly and knows exactly when to engage in conversation and when to let you be. The to go is just as good as eating in house, they have never had issues with the quality of anything in my opinion. 10/10 would recommend!
Went down with a friend for wings and definitely picked the right place. Large wings with a flavorful sauce that coated the wings perfectly (I had bourbon bbq). the food was coupled with a great conversation with the bartender, who we later found out was the owner. I will be returning many times
Waited over 1 hr for Portobello Mushroom Wrap with side salad, description "portobello mushrooms, sautéed onions, red pepper, lettuce in balsamic glaze. Only until I complained to the bartender (identified as owner) was it explained that they were out of lettuce and had gone to Shop Rite for same. I received "I'm sorry. " When I insisted on compensation i received no charge for the wrap. When I FINALLY got the Wrap, there were no sautéed onions, no red peppers, and no balsamic glaze; just mushrooms in a dry wrap. Besides all that, bartender (owner) had to be flagged down from the other end of the bar to get his attention for another drink .ABSOLUTELY THE WORSE.
Great burger, cold beer, warm fire in the wood stove. Friendly locals kept a good fun atmosphere, cant beat a Thursday night in Ellenville in February lol, the barkeep was very sweet and hustled. Clean rest rooms. Worth a stop for a table dinner or bar food.
Since COVID my friends and i have been coming to Ellenville pretty frequently... We come to this cute little town, from Rockland, for a weekend every few months. We always used to make sure we would stop at The Publick House. Well. We will not be doing that any more. We were up in February, and then twice more over the past few months. This place has gone way down hill. Horrible service, weak drinks, and shady goings on with staff and regulars make for a bad experience. There are a lot of places to go in Ellenville. This place used to be fun and inviting. It is anything but that now. I'm not sure what changed (new owners maybe? ) But this place is awful now. I only gave a star (as in ANY star) because it used to be good. Dont waste your time.
Awesome food, even better atmosphere. Don't let the small ones fool ya. We had a great dinner, fresh food, and amazing drinks. Even though they seemed understaffed the bartender/waiter was on it! Popped in for a late dinner on our way out of town but this place convinced us to come back soon. Thanks to Publik House and the locals.
They have excellent burgers and wings!! However, their (cooking) consistency needs to improve. One week I went and everything was terrific, the next time the food wasn't as good. I wish they would get a better ventilation system - it gets a bit stuffy inside. When I can I eat outside. The owner and staff are very friendly!!
I was very surprised by the quality of the food. Bangers and Mashed was very good. Lemon chicken was excellent. Apple and brie crispy chicken sandwich was delightful. The best dishes though are the fries and loaded fries. What was most unexpected was that the Guinness was served at the right temperature. The only down side was the wait for the food - way too long.
Great Service, Delicious fresh food, artisanal wine, Classic Latin music and atmosphere. Super great find. Beautiful classic artwork everywhere. Old fashion rustic place to eat and enjoy. Had the wings honey garlic, smash burgers, and empanadas 10/
Everything about this restaurant is remarkable! Marcus and Jaime know what a great meal entails! The porterhouse was amazing and you can tell Marcus cares about where all his food is sourced. The seasoning on that steak was out of this world! The
