The BEST shrimp and grits we've tried so far! I had fireworks in my mind with each bite and took tiny bites so that it lasted longer. We tried the lamb burger as well and it was really good. Service was amazing and the place feels cozy and nice.
Excellent Choice 💯 Navigating the reviews of a touristy town can be challenging, as they are often inflated. However, this place did NOT disappoint ⏪🫡 The service was great, the drinks were delicious, and most importantly we were blown away by the food. 🤤 The Shrimp'n Grits are legit - Definitely worth a visit 👍 One of the best places we visited for dinner in Savannah 🍽️
My husband and I decided to have our last dinner in Savannah at the Public Kitchen & Bar. I followed the advice of many past reviewers and ordered the shrimp & grits. I am glad I did because it was one of the best meals I have ever had! The flavor is outstanding. My husband had the jambalaya and enjoyed it immensely. The pecan pie for dessert is a MUST. It was absolutely delicious. To top it off, our server, Shawna, was wonderful. Very attentive, and very friendly. I wish I could bring this place home with me to Michigan!
We really enjoyed eating here. The kids had spaghetti & meatballs (they loved them. They are lightly sauced), I had shrimp & grits (very good. Very different from any I have had. The chorizo makes it slightly spicy. Enough that I wouldn’t want to drink a carbonated drink with it) but it had lots of shrimp and was good. Aunt had the bbq and loved it. Hubs had the shrimp faux boy. He thought it was good also and loved the pasta salad.
This photo does no justice. The shrimp and grits came highly recommended and looks absolutely amazing in person. I stopped by on a Saturday about 45 mins after they opened and there was about a 15-20 minute wait for parties of 2. I was by myself that night so I was able to grab a seat at the bar right away. Service was just absolutely amazing. Super friendly and nice. I struck up a conversation with the lady next to me and enjoyed every bite of my meal. Savannah is filled with nothing but such friendly people. I’ll be going back for sure.
This has been a bucket list place for me since I moved to Savannah, and I am so happy I finally got to experience it! It was a last-minute decision, and even then, we only had to wait about 20 min for a table. By the time we got our drinks from the bar and looked over the menu, we were ready to be sat. I love the atmosphere, very soft and intimate, the food was really good, and the drinks were perfect! We started with the cheese board where you get to pick however many cheeses you want, we went with Brie, Pimento, and Appalachian. All were very good, and it even comes with pickles that paired wonderful with the pimento cheese and Brie, they also have a little thing of cranberries on there! As for Entrees, this was tough because it al sounded so good but we finally decided on the salmon, and I got the Jambalaya. Both were absolutely fantastic! Jambalaya had a very slight kick of spice to it but nothing crazy. The only thing was the broccoli that came with his Salmon lacked any kind of flavor. For dessert, we got the Smores. It was very different from anything I've had, especially that has to do with Smores, but very sweet. I wasn't too fond of the spices they put into the dessert, it was a very wintery spice, and I wasn't a fan, but my boyfriend loved it! Overall, very good experience and really happy we chose to come here!
First night living in Savanah , went to this favorite with my wife. Great piece of salmon, nice sauce but it came out a bit cool. BUT my wife's pecan crusted chicken was fabulous, one of the best dishes we have had in Savanah! A must try! Pretty plain room, jammed on a Thursday.
Small pub at W Liberty Str. in a quite modern ambiente. A number of tables were outside along the street. Food is overall quite ok, the quality seems to vary. Bottom line we would rather not recommend to visit the Public Kitchen, unless you go for the Savannah Shrimp, as we feel there are better restaurants in Savannah. The Savannah Shrimp and Grits (24$) was excellent, whereas the Wedge Salad and the House Steak Burger (18$) were below average. I don't know why anyone would want to mix pasta into a burger, it certainly does not help to make it tastier. The burger was mostly cold, too, only the meat was luke warm. Several draft beers are available (7$). Service was not one of their strengths either, our waitress was far from being friendly. We assigned 4 asterisks only due to the excellent Savannah Shrimp & Grits dish.
