Food: Endless freshness, bursting with flavors, expertly prepared, and visually stunning presentation. Service: The waitstaff was exceptional, and the restaurant manager was humbly appreciative of compliments. Overall, well-managed. Atmosphere: Our group of 6 enjoyed seating at the back with views of the kitchen and the back patio. Menu suggestion for a group of 6: Try ordering one of everything for a delightful culinary experience. Would I do it again? Absolutely! The affordable prices make it perfect for frequent visits, and the ambiance creates a memorable outing. A true gem in Charlotte, and it's unfair to limit this praise only to Matthews; it deserves recognition beyond that! P.S. I can't forget to mention the amazing Shrimp and Grits, as well as the Brussel sprouts which were perfectly prepared - a delightful twist on a childhood hated dish! Kudos to the kitchen of Protrait Gallery!

Food and front room are great. If it stayed there this would have been an easy 5 star. Things started to go downhill as soon as we went outside. The few tables in front of the kitchen would not be comfortable due to the bad deep fry smell from kitchen and the tables outside don't have enough shade so it was not comfortable either - both these location don't have the good vibe of the bar area. Service was just weak overall, seemed not trained at all. they were more worries about opening the door for customer leaving then providing menus and taking orders. Food was expensive but overall good, however, did not all arrive at the same time, and one of us had to start eating while the others have already finished.

We were celebrating our daughter’s birthday. The food and drinks were impressive. The service was top notch. I was impressed by the flavor and presentation of the dishes. The bartender amazing as well. We enjoyed the craft cocktails. We highly recommend. We would sit in the bar area next time.

We came on a date night. Ordered the stuffed mushrooms, meatballs, ahi tuna, and shrimp and grits all at once (it was kinda late (9:40). Everything arrived one at a time like a tapas bar... perfectly. Espresso martini and old fashioned was awesome, best old fashioned I've tasted (and it was my husband's, lol). Service was phenomenal. Chef Johnny is on point!

Small plates are always so delicious here. Generous portions and a great variety too. I had the arugula and feta salad and the four cheese flatbread this time, although I've tried many things and have never been disappointed.

First visit- definitely not last! Small plates were delicious and extremely reasonable on the wallet. Hidden gem for sure. 10/10 Also the drinks were amazing. Can't wait to try other small plates!

Stopped here on a whim before my brothers basketball game and I was so happy we did! I’m glad we got there early because it got packed!!!! Truffle fries amazing and short rib sliders were great!!!! Also please please get a drink! They were so tastefully crafted! You can tell they make sure each bartender knows how to make a drink!!!!

Went here for the first time. What a pleasant surprise. Our server was outstanding! We were family getting together from all around and were having a lot of fun. She kept up with us and was spot on with our drink and food orders for 2 hours. Now the food. Not a large menu but with 8 of us, we tried a lot of the items. I think everyone really enjoyed their selections and the special drinks were great. There was a good crowd coming and going, so I think that says something positive as well. Great time in a nice casual setting. Recommended highly!
