The Outside Scoop - Ice cream shop in Ankeny - 2410 SW White Birch Dr Suite 100, USA

Visited this fantastic ice cream shop on a Friday evening for the first time ever! Both employees were super friendly and gave us a couple samples. It was so hard to pick what to get due to them having so many delicious sounding options, including a few seasonal choices! They offer sundaes, ice cream cake, pints, quarts, and have a decent selection of vegan options. The sizes pictured were one of their smallest and even still it was a great size. The store is super clean and tidy too. My only minor complaint is that they only have one milkshake size and it seems to be pretty large. I wanted a milkshake but didn't want a huge one. The price was relatively high too which was a bummer because shakes are usually my go-to. Overall, this didn't take away from the experience and we absolutely loved the ice cream shop!

We had the Ice Cream Truck come out for a work event a few months ago and I was really impressed. It was super easy to book and the selection that was brought was amazing. We will definitely be doing this again next summer.

The first thing I feel I should say is this is the place where you indulge yourself. The amount of attention to detail is I'd obvious by the offerings. White Chocolate Raspberry, Goat Cheese, freshly made waffle cones, half baked Monster Cookie Dough, etc. You don't find these any just in any of your usual places. You also would be hard pressed to find the Grundea, this is an overload to your senses. This is the stuff of legends, like the homemade whipped cream and brownies. Trust me you won't regret it except forgoing your diet. This is decadence at it's highest level.

Delicious ice cream spot, with lots of fun and also classic flavours. I loved their coffee toffee ice cream as well as their goat cheese and cherry option. The staff were very attentive and friendly as we selected our flavours. A really nice vibe. Totally recommend.

"Outside the box" might describe the menu of ice cream flavors at the Outside Scoop. True bacon lovers do not hesitate to try anything "bacon" and I was pleased that the "Avocado Toast and Bacon" was more bacon than avocado. The "Dill Pickle" scoop was surprisingly refreshing with real flecks of fresh dill. All the usual flavors are there too, but the adventurous will not be disappointed at the Outside Scoop.

Delicious fresh ice cream! Lots of really interesting flavors and they all are pretty darn tasty! They give samples so you can try before you commit to a scoop, double scoop, triple scoop, bowl, cone or waffle bowl! The inside smells like heaven so I recommend eating there haha

So many different and unique flavors. The Key Lime Pie ice cream is a definite must try! Also love the German Chocolate, Peanut Butter Cup and Mint Chip flavors a lot as well.

Have been coming here a few years, the ice cream is second to none. Happy to pay a premium for the premium gourmet flavors. I’d love to give 5 stars, but lately the high school kids working there have made the experience less than ideal. Inconsistency in ice cream sizes/scoops sets expectations & then leaves room for disappointment. Today I paid for a double and my wife got a single, but somehow she had more ice cream than me. Being asked “do you know where that’s at?” when you ask for a flavor is a little odd as well, especially when asking for one of the most popular permanent flavors. Although, I suppose that’s preferable to being served the wrong flavor, which happened to me last visit. Used to have decent spoons too, but the cheap flimsy replacements can make enjoying one’s ice cream a challenge depending on the flavor/consistency.
