The Original Granny's - Pancake restaurant in Wheeling - 831 W Dundee Rd, USA

I understand that it's around the holidays and they're short-staffed, but we had to wait a solid hour between the time our order was taken and the food arriving - even though many carry-out orders were fulfilled in the meantime. Given how long we waited for the food, I would expect a discount or a more sincere apology. I have no problem with the server and I tipped them 15% - it's a problem with management. When we approached the manager to pay our bill, he asked us how was everything and we said we waited an hour for our food and he said "Really, it can't be!" and checked the timestamp of our receipt before being slightly apologetic. Then he asks "do you want to leave a tip?" with a tone that suggested that he didn't expect us to because of the delay. Why would you screw your workers like that? It wasn't their fault that you're prioritizing carry-out orders over in-person customers! What terrible management and shame on them - maybe the way he handled the tip question is a reflection of how they treat their employees in general, which might be way they're short-staffed in the kitchen?! Also, they pack in way too many tables for the size of the kitchen and kept seating new tables even when there were a bunch of people still waiting a long time for their food. They should let people know when they're waiting for a table that the food wait might be long and let us decide before seating us - if i had known I would need to wait an hour even after my order was taken, i would have gone somewhere else and I would probably come again because i'd appreciate their transparency and honesty. Telling me after I'm done with my meal was too late. If they're so short-staffed in the kitchen, they should've either stopped seating so many people or stopped taking so many carry-out orders.

Excellent breakfast place! The staff was really friendly and attentive. The pancakes were absolutely delicious and I tried the Fiesty New Yorker which was a special perhaps limited time dish and it was amazing I really loved the pastrami that was in the omelette. To be honest it was a huge portion and almost too much for me but I had to finish it. There were lots of people getting takeout. I would recommend going here if you're in the area

I come for brunch with my boyfriend all the time. I think we’ve made it ‘our spot’ and I love it. We also aim to order something new in the menu every time. The greek food just gets better and better each time! And the staff is AMAZING! So kind and welcoming.

Skillet was made perfect, recommend trying out the Loukoumada French toast for every one.

Tried out this classic diner after my Baseball Game with my mom and the food is very good and comes with a lot. I had a omelette with hash browns and a side of pancakes with strawberry orange juice. I high recommend stopping by.

The service and host were fantastic, no issues there! Very friendly and accommodating. The food itself however was expensive (comparative to other similar restaurants) and was underwhelming. The Ranch dressing that we asked for as a side for French fries didn't taste anything like ranch. More like an Herby cream sauce. No zing or acid in it. The kids meal chicken tenders were pretty terrible. Dried out and looked like they were microwaved. The chopped salad I ordered was average but the garlic dressing was like a sweet mustard and didn't taste good. The coffee was a bit weak. The other adult I was eating with did not like how the "maple" syrup tasted. The prices felt pretty high for the quality of food. They did provide crayons and paper for the kids. I want to emphasize the service was great. Our issues were with the quality of the food.
