The Oread Lawrence, Tapestry Collection by Hilton - Hotel in Lawrence - 1200 Oread Ave, USA

Recently stayed 7/24 - 7/27…very nice looking hotel from the outside and in…rooms are only mediocre (not comparable to rest of hotel). Also, when have high end hotels stopped complementary coffee in the lobby? I can go to any Hilton Garden Inn, a Hampton Inn, or anything comparable and there is always fresh coffee available. $20 a night parking in your garage? Your room rates are rather high/expensive… And you’re charging the customer to be able to park at your facility. Your hotel is well, not worth it… Everything in your hotel is ‘ Nickel and Dimed’. Actually, thought there would be a charge every time we needed the elevator to get to room. You can do so much better for your customers. The Eldridge on Massachusetts Street far exceeds this hotel (rates/accommodations, etc) AND location. It’s directly on your the Main Street of the beautiful Lawrence downtown. Will be booking that facility, next-stay.

We stayed at the Oread for two nights while moving our son back in for his junior year. Every aspect of the hotel exceeded our expectations from cleanliness of our room to all the very friendly, helpful staff. Kari, the bartender at the Bird Dog was personable, made great drinks, and took such good care of us! The view from the 9th floor was gorgeous!

I recently stayed at the Oread and was very pleased with the room and also the service. The bartender was Kari and she was friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. She had great suggestions for things to do in town. She also recommended Teeling which was an Irish whiskey I hadn’t tried and the perfect suggestion. I will for sure be back, great hotel and an amazing bar with great service!!

Such a fun place. We stayed here while on a business trip a couple of weeks ago, and are coming back in the next few weeks just for fun. Very well run hotel with great customer service, clean and comfortable room, great lounge, and lots of places to wander and explore. Anyone staying in the area should stay here if they want to get away from the shoebox hotels with the breakfasts from a can.

Room was adequate, would benefit from microwave and a chair. Housekeeping worked hard but not smart; for example, we showed up to 4 bottles of shampoo and one conditioner. No shower gel. The cave bar is in the building so coming back from dinner there's a bouncer with a metal detector in the parking garage and hordes of drunk crazy screaming students. The whole basement area/gym is loud as the bar is inside the hotel on that floor. I didn't feel secure with access to the elevators right outside. I asked for a nice view of campus or the stadium and front desk gave me the parking lot/roof of adjacent building. Went up to tool for beautiful sunset view I wish I had. Location amazing for the Jayhawk welcome center, easy walk and bus access. Horrible tiny breakfast buffet with no service if you could call it that. Disgusting coffee. Office staff extremely helpful and attentive if we had a request. Room for improvement overall but still best location.

This was our first visit to The Oread. It is located on the campus of KU and the view is great! ROCK CHALK! The front desk was friendly and welcoming. The rooms are updated and nice. The two complaints I have are the toilet would not stop running and would not flush at 3:00 am. (I turned off the water and then when I turned it back on it started working again) The was some hair on the floor and the coffee maker had some old coffee cups in it so in short, the house cleaning could have a bit better. Overall a very nice hotel.

HEADS UP FOR MOMS BRINGING BABIES: I am very disappointed with my stay here. It's a nice hotel. The rooms were nice, the location was good. But my biggest issue was the lack of microwave in the room. I had a baby with me and called the front desk to see if they had a microwave. They said I had to come down to the lobby to use it. I explained I had a baby and needed to heat up bottles, but that didn't matter. It was a HUGE inconvenience to have to go to the lobby to heat up bottles not to mention left over food. If you have a screaming hungry baby, it's not ideal to have to go to the lobby from the 5th floor to heat up a bottle. If I am paying this much for a room, I would expect a microwave. I could have easily paid less at a different hotel and received a microwave.

Lauren at the front desk is incredibly helpful. I was moved rooms in the evening because the AC in my first room wasn’t working well. I had forgotten a personal item in my previous room and she was able to retrieve it for me and hand-delivered it to me. Genuine smile, positive attitude, made me feel like a VIP :)
