The pillows are terrific! The bed is very comfy. We stayed on ground level and the street noise was not a problem as mentioned in another comment. Easy access to the building and to our room. Close access to everything Downtown. We had coffee at the Duluth Coffee co, breakfast from the Great Bread store and walked the lake walk. Very clean and comfortable. A very fun adventure.
Such a neat place! Stayed in a hostel room in “Swedetown.” Really cute room with original stone wall. Shared bathroom was very large and there was another one available down the hall. Sauna was amazing! Great location in Old Downtown. Bridge to the lakewalk and an amazing view of Lake Superior just one block away.
This boutique hotel is a real gem. They have done an outstanding job at the restoration of this building. It is a little tricky because it shares an entrance with a Japanese restaurant and you have to park across the street in a public structure. across the street. |But that should not deter you. The rooms are huge and the bathroom is the size of of a full room. They are gorgeous. There are 14 ft ceilings and original woodwork. Very very quiet and beds are super comfortable. |Check in was very easy although there is no one on site they sent a minimum of 4 emails with detailed description of the process. |As I said, the restoration is fantastic. We will definitely satay here again.
I genuinely can’t say anything except how badly this place is set up, I booked my room the day of, and it took me through a long confirmation process which was fine. But when check in came there never came an email with the building and room code. I called twice and both times I called they said something different and both times neither things they said happened. I am currently stuck in Duluth, paying for a room I can’t access, and sleeping in my car in a parking garage. So I can’t say they have very good service.
This was a sweet break with my sister in law.|I just lost my partner of 37 years to cancer. It was a good break for both of us.|This is my 2nd visit to the Oliver. Access to safe parking across the street is so nice. Never needed my car. Easy walk to canal boardwalk to see the big ships. And, the speak easy! Hot jazz music transformed me into an era from the past. Thank you!|10 star review!☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆!
This is just my opinion of my experience - I understand that the other rooms are quite nice.
I had reservations at the Oliver for July 17-22 and had booked Swedetown 2. The room is definitely "hostel style" as advertised, but two things were notably a problem. First and worst, it was not possible to control the temperature in that room, and it was about 60 degrees in there. Fortunately a friend had the adjacent room and made room for me on their extra twin bed. Second, the nightclub (further) downstairs has live music a few nights a week which is very loud and clearly audible from inside at least 2 of the 4 Swedetown rooms.
Amenities inside the rooms are extremely limited - uncomfortable or no chairs, minimal counter space.
I booked another hotel and canceled after one night.
To put the icing on the cake, after explaining the situation and canceling I received no further communication other than an acknowledgement of my cancellation. There was no apology, no "we're sorry for the troubles", nothing.
If you book any of the upstairs rooms this all might be fine. If something goes wrong, though, I have no idea if the hotel will address the issue.
Lovingly restored in a building of historical significance, clean, with all necessary modern conveniences including massive streaming TV. Room #10, Mayor Snively, was 3x larger than standard hotel room. Pro tip: Loved the Nespresso maker but save space for the short walk across street to Duluth Coffee co. & their onsite roaster. |There is covered, secured, overnight parking for $10 across the street
This is the perfect location walking distance to canal park on one side and Fitgers on the other. Fun vibe. You will love having a rain shower. Owners have done a nice job with privacy blinds and heavy curtains for privacy since the room faces Superior St.
We had an incredible stay and loved that it was in the heart of the Lincoln Park neighborhood - there were lots of shopping and breweries within close walking distance. The room itself was amazing, very spacious and stylish and we felt right at home.

Oh my gosh.....the Speakeasy Suite is a DREAM! The bathroom is beyond amazing and it is the nicest room I have ever stayed in. The mansion is beautiful and well cared for. There is no doubt we will be back again and again. Love this place - A+++
Hostel du nord is the place to be! Wonderfully welcoming employees. These guys smile the brightest and hug the warmest. Always know which direction to point you in for good food. Rooms are always clean. And workers are always in the mood for a great
My wife and I stayed here for 1 night. We're locals. This place blew us away. We were in one of their Junior Suite King Bed Bay View rooms. It's not a "fancy" hotel, but it was very clean and well maintained. It has so many little touches that show t
Wild State Cider has so many delicious options to choose from! Hands down one of my top favorite cidery. So delicious! I didn't try them but they also have a variety of THC infused beverages if that's more your thing!
