We loved our stay here! My husband booked this as a surprise trip for us, because he knew I loved Victorian style homes. The Old Carrabelle did not disappoint! The moment we walked in, the atmosphere took me back to childhood stays at my aunt's Victorian home. It is self-check-in, which I loved. The first night we were the only guests, so I did peek in at the other rooms, and they are all beautiful. We stayed in the one room downstairs. The bath is not attached, but there was a folding screen that stretched across the hallway so there was privacy for us. || We enjoyed a dinner and a breakfast at Mornin' Bite. Also, a wonderful seafood restaurant in nearby Panacea was Posey's Up the Creek Steam Room. We enjoyed the Nature Center in Eastpoint {Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve} and the Gulf Specimen Aquarium in Panacea. Carrabelle has some really cute shops, and we will definitely make another trip, and hope to stay at The Old Carrabelle Hotel again!
A fun interesting old hotel with great ambiance . We will definitely stay here when we return to the area. We stayed in the Hemingway Room which had a very large bathroom . The furnishings were perfect for a Hemingway like decor.
If you need a good quiet nights rest, " quait, charming", this is the place. Laid back old florida B&B style historic house with books & nooks & well decorated. I LOVED THAT! I slept very well, thank you, in an extremely comfortable clean bed. There was a shared minifridge & coffee pot in the hallway that works out just fine. Skip gives you meal cards for each day to use accross the street at carabelle junction, or walk half a block. It was my 1st ime staying in this TYPE of place & I absolutely loved the Regatta room. I felt safe & happy here. Like a " home" should be. It even smells delightfull. Skip was fantastic, real, & attentive. I would definitely love to be invited back.
SCAM ! When we arrived, no one was here, I called by number on my reservation, some lady came and said that they don't have 2 beds, as we booked. They had only one and offered to sleep 3 people in one bed. She said if we don't like that option, there is Franklin inn nearby. Of course, we did not stay in one bed and moved to a different hotel as the lady advised. But my card was charged by Old Carabelle Hotel for 250$.|P.s.: by the way, everything was shabby and very dusty,
The owners are great to work with; super responsive. This was my second time staying in the Regatta. It's the smallest room, but plenty of room for two and SO cute. It was a little warmer than my husband would have liked -there are not individual AC units for each room. Coffee pot is in the hall. This causes you to meet "neighbors" which is really fun! The wrap around porch is shaded by palms and had a lovely afternoon breeze. We sat out with our neighbors to view the 4th of July fireworks. Perfect! Oh, breakfast is by voucher to local restaurants. We love this. Country Junction is very close, but few options. Mornin' Bites is wonderful. The wait is well worth it! Also, The Carrabelle Bike Shop is a great place to visit. Mike and Pat have beautifully restored old maps that are showcased like a museum. Lots of fascinating local history. Stop here before visiting the Camp Gordon Johnson WWII Museum. Can't wait to return to the Carrabelle Hotel.
Small quaint historic hotel is beautifully decorated. Very clean, neat, and well organized, everything in the downtown historic distance is an easy walk. I wouldn't call it a bed and breakfast since the owner gives a $7 discount card for off site restaurant choices, and there are plenty of options.|If you like small old hotels this is the place for you.
We stayed here 3 years ago in October for 2 nights. We enjoyed our stay then and I think we did all there was to do in Carabelle. The hotel was clean. We met Skip the owner then and he is a very nice man. We just booked again and stayed for 3 nights..very cozy..beds very comfortable and room was clean. We brought our bicycles. We met Kelly and Joe and they were very friendly and helpful. Great places to eat Fisherman's wife, Carabelle junction, morning bites. We also visited Taste of Korea and Bubble waffle.
Very comfortable, quaint inn. Very convenient to lots of places within walking distance.|We went down to Fathoms on the water for some live music.. walked to the IGA and picked up a bottle of wine that we had on our porch.. had our breakfast at Morning Bites (very good)|Only bummer was we got some half and half for our coffee in the morning (we are not powdered creamer fans) and left it in the fridge by the coffee maker. A few hours later somebody had taken it so no coffee for us.|Not sure why someone felt compelled to steal a $2 carton of our creamer.|Otherwise, a pleasant stay.
