The Ocean Key Resort - Resort hotel in Virginia Beach - 424 Atlantic Ave, USA

Wonderful resort, very quaint and simple. We were just looking for our location to have our anniversary in that We can just relax and enjoy each other they have areas to look out to the water in our room was wonderful because as soon as you went out on the balcony, the ocean was right there it was the most beautiful view. They even surprised us with an anniversary basket and for me and My Husband that was the first time, anybody showed congratulations on being married most people don’t even know when our anniversary is, and we were greeted with such great hospitality. We will definitely be going back.

Great location, so close to the beach and everything in the area. Nice layout of rooms, the kitchen was great to have in my suite. Parking was a perk of staying here. The front desk staff was amazing! As for my room and what I would assume was a housekeeping issue,… my bedding and pillows were completely covered in a very strong, overwhelming perfume smell and it was throughout the room, unpleasant for me personally and as if the linens/ pillows were not changed, had to have them all switched out after my arrival. The fridge had spilled liquid and pieces of food in it, so you could tell that was not cleaned. I was given a connecting room and my neighbor blared the tv for 2 days straight so was kind of a nuisance with having a toddler. I had a couple issues with my booking and with those things mentioned in my room, but the front desk took care of everything promptly as possible, they were beyond professional and friendly. I’d definitely like to stay here again and wish I could have stayed longer.

Wanted a clean room near the ocean and indoor pool. From the walls to the floors and the bathroom to the bedroom, things were slimy, rusty or broken. I didn’t expect to see granite countertops or marble floors. However, I did not expect to be concerned about scolding showers, tub back ups, using the toilet that was inches from the floor, lying in a bed that tilted backwards and squished and squeaked or sliding across the floor every time I stepped. Pool is not as pictured (more can be said). The negative comments are for the owners bc the staff are only able to manage what they have. People do better when they know better. I expect the owners to do better and treat this place as if their friends and family were spending their time and hard earned money there.

Stayed here for a week, nothing bad happened or was dissatisfying, its not a high end location or nothing screams luxury, but if you need a simple place to stay then it definitely is that. My kids enjoyed the indoor pool, the easy access to the neighboring pizza store, the view from the balcony overlooking the water and passing cars. Overall not a bad spot, I rated it based on amenities, customer service was good.

2nd time I visited this resort this year. The first time the staff was Uncooperative and rude.Thought was just that a 1 time nope the very same the second time. If you have a large vehicle they don’t guarantee you parking because of height clearance of their garage. The place definitely needs renovated and the staff needs to learn social skills!!!!!! Definitely WONT be back pool was dirty doors out didn’t work microwave handle broke elevator stunk of weed constantly

Room was very dusty. My allergies became a problem. Front desk was nice but not helpful when kids were not supposed to be in the pool for adult time. They said the staff is not paid to deal with the situation.

Girl at check in wasn't very friendly. Placed our dirty towels and wash clothes out for replacement, had to call desk to which I then had to go down to get after waiting 30minutes and I was only able to get towels. The pool isn't completely closed off from the rest of the floor making it super humid. The elevators are slow.||||The bed was comfortable and kitchenette is nice.||||Overall, I would return if I couldn't find another place I like.

Bad: 1. The AC system seems to warm up during the evening around 530pm and does not cool back down until late into the night close to midnight. 2. The pool water looks like it needs to be filtered or cleaned as it appeared slightly creamy and murkey in color 3. Two out of four of the days that we stayed there, there was construction going on in the room directly below ours, therefore we could not stay in late and were forced to go out for relief from the drilling and hammering. 4. The rooms floor was quite sandy when we arrived. Weve stayed at other hotels near beaches and this has never been something we immediately noticed on the first day. Good: 1. The staff are awesome, really nice, and friendly. 2. The location is much calmer than closer to 21st street. 3. The amenities in the hotel room were also nice and well kept. Overall I have to limit my review to an overall 2 stars because of the listed complaints. They really hindered us having a relaxing stay. Otherwise, the hotel has the potential to be a great vacation spot if these complaints are addressed.
