The Niobrara Lodge - Hotel in Valentine - 803 US-20, USA

For the most expensive hotel in Valentine, I expected better. Locals told me that it’s been struggling. Very disappointed. No bread for toast at breakfast for 3 days in a row. No coffee one day. Common areas need a good cleaning. Housekeeping was invisible—front desk lady gave us fresh towels. Shower was broken—desk lady said she has reported it a week ago. I growled a little and it got fixed. No in room coffee.

Place was well located and was safe. It had good appearance from the road. Staff was very nice. Only issue was these little black bugs on walls, behind curtains, and even in the shower. We dealt with them, but you don’t want bugs in your room. Buffet closed at 930 sharp, no coffee and even the machine to dispense water was off. We were on road trip and can’t imagine being in Valentine, Nebraska again though. Best choice available.

We wish we could give this place 20 stars! My husband and I were on our way back to Omaha with our dog and baby when we got stuck in the blizzard on Christmas night. The staff took us in immediately and gave us some of the best accommodations we could have ever asked for. They were so kind and took excellent care of us. They definitely made a sticky situation more bearable. Thank you so much for everything.

My husband and I were traveling back to Omaha on Christmas Day with our infant and dog from western NE. We got stuck in a terrible snow storm. The staff was immediately accommodating to our needs. They were friendly and helped us out in our time of need. The room was clean quiet and comfortable. Thank you so much for making our issue more bearable.

Nice and convenient place to stay. Have stayed here several times now and have been satisfied each visit. Friendly staff and nice inside and out. Parking lot is well lit and my vehicle was easy to get to from my room. ||Also pet friendly!!

This hotel has potential, but struggles to cater to needs of consumers. Internet is terrible, they have a sign at breakfast that says don't fill a travel mug with coffee and only one trip to breakfast bar. They shortened the time frame for breakfast, so many of the travelers that work for a local facility can't get breakfast before they leave. Seems strategic on their part. They used to have wonderful service. Their beds are hit and miss as well as cleanliness. Seems they also struggle to keep help. I wish they could see that their regulars are important. Looks like I'll be hotel hopping in Valentine again. I think the three main hotels are owned by the same company, so unfortunately, I might be recommending Air BNB options to those traveling or vacationing in Valentine!

It's a nice looking hotel. Mattresses hurt our backs, and our toilet didnt work until i got a plunger from housekeeping and plunged it myself. The man working the breakfast area told us how stupid it is for people to come all the way here to see the river, as we prepare to go to Smith Falls. I wouldn't recommend the place.

We came for a single overnight stay while we saw Mount Rushmore. It was easy to get to and very close to the memorial. Check in and check out were painless. The rooms were clean and cozy. Our children loved having the upstairs loft to themselves, but the stairs were very steep. It was quiet and felt like we were nestled back in the woods. We would definitely stay here again if we ever returned to the area.
