Absolutely amazing Academy, it’s hands down the best place to learn and roll In the Myrtle Beach area. DK And his team of coaches are top-notch, they are consummate professionals who show each and every student the personal attention they need to develop and they make it a point to make everyone at the gym, feel welcome, at home and part of the Next Element team. Honestly, I can’t say enough good stuff about this place, its staff and the jujitsu family that trains there, we are very grateful to have found them.

I'm so glad that I found this place for my son. We love it here! The place is clean. All of the instructors are so knowledgeable , amazing and so nice and you can tell all of these kids really respect and look up to DK, Ethan and Austin. The teamwork from all of the kids is truly amazing. They are such a great group of kids who truly know the meaning of good sportsmanship and know how to support and cheer on their teammates, especially during tournaments. My son has made so many new friends here and The Next Element Academy is like an extended family to us.

Absolutely amazing establishment. My son is almost 9 and has been going to The Next Element Academy since he was 5. The coaches here have brought out the absolute best in my son. He use to be shy and timid and is now so full of confidence. I trust every coach here with his safety and coaching/guiding him. The academy has been a blessing! We re so happy here

By far the best place to train at the beach! I've been training here for almost 5 years, and I've been happy the whole time. From the day 1 beginner to the black belts, everyone is kind and welcoming. Ask anyone who trains here if they feel like part of a family, I can almost guarantee they'll say yes. There are gyms in the area that have great folks but may be lacking in actual martial arts skill and knowledge. There are also gyms with plenty of high-level coaches and practitioners but lack the family environment and can often be an intimidating experience for a newcomer. The Next Element Academy has managed to nail both. The gym contains IBJJF champions and successful amateur/professional fighters, while also being the type of place that a complete beginner can come in and feel at home. The kids' program is also top notch. How often do you see a kids program taught by a black belt? Come try a class, you won't be disappointed!

You are going to be hard pressed to find another gym that has this level of instruction from top to bottom. The care taken and the amount of passion poured into this academy is second to none. My only regret is not moving closer. I will gladly put in the miles from Columbia SC to be able to have my kids work with Derrick and his team. True to his craft.

My family loves The Next Element Academy. The staff is very welcoming and owner is an all around great guy and awesome teacher. We can’t wait for our daughter to be old enough to join the kids classes!

Amazing academy. Derrick really makes sure it feels like a big family here. Everyone is willing to help, whether you are brand new, or have been training for years. Best place to train on the grand strand.

I can’t say enough good things about this place or the people that you’ll meet here. I’ve been training for a little over a year now, but it only feels like 6 months. The attention to detail you’ll receive from all the instructors and higher belts is second to none. Whether you’re on vacation, or local and looking for a home to learn, look no further!
