July 28th was my first experience at The Mint Tavern. I'm a local, independent ballroom dance instructor and I was looking for a fun place for my students & myself to experience some Swing dancing "out on the town." One of my students had heard of The Mint Tavern so I decided that we should check it out. We attended the Swing class at 7:30 followed by social dancing at 8:30.
Right away when I entered The Mint, Kurt, the bartender made me feel comfortable and at home. To my surprise, Kurt and I already knew each other from another previous establishment that he used to work at. It was such a wonderful surprise to see him again!! I truly had missed him. The Swing class was fun & the instructors were awesome and patient with the beginners. The core crowd was very friendly. My students felt comfortable and had a blast! I know that we all will be back.
Ever since learning about the Mint 400 when we moved here, I’ve been nagging my bride to take me. Especially lately given that we moved to the same neighborhood in February. We wanted to wait until we had some cash to spend, that way we could hang out and have a cocktail or two and really soak in some old school Vegas history. Well, that’s just isn’t going to happen, I guess. We were all set to go a couple of nights ago. I was wearing a polo shirt and decent pair of shorts with pretty much brand new Reebok’s. My wife was wearing a tank top combo shirt, nice pair of shorts and a new pair of Vans. I mention our clothing because that’s the only thing we could’ve been judged on and judged we were. It’s a two door security entrance. The outside door was open and you have to ring the bell to be let in the second door. We rang the bell and waited about 60-90 seconds. Looked around the entrance for signage with directions in case we were missing something. Rang again. Nothing. Not even a “sorry, we’re too high on our own stink to deal with the likes of you”. I could see the bar tender and i understand the neighborhood he works in given that we live there. Without being stupid about it, i pulled the cash i had out of my pocket and casually held up the wad. Still nothing. It was very clearly we were not welcome in the place I’ve wanted to check out since moving here. No explanation, not even an acknowledgment of my existence at his door. We ended up walking over to Palace Station and despite my disappointment and annoyance, as well as bewilderment about why we were treated so poorly by The Mint, we had a nice evening. I guess The Mint pays their bartender quite well. So well in fact, he can turn down what ended up being a $30 tip to go with what was a $130 food and beverage tab we ended up spending at Palace. Then there’s the roughly $100 spent gaming.
I’m pretty laid back and clean cut in my appearance. I would like an explanation as to what we did to be denied entry but , i suppose since he didn’t have the class to at least acknowledge us long enough to tell us to move along then, it would be an overestimation on my part to presume they care about their reviews from the common public enough to read them, let alone respond to them.
We just went for Burlesque Bingo - HOW
MUCH fun & blew my expectations! I honestly was expecting a show to be on the cheesy side and it was absolutely impressed with the immersive talent representing shows from Las Vegas to Los Angeles. We will definitely be back next month!!!
One of the best sign up bonuses in town. Play 25. Get 25. Awesome
Pretty cool little place. Locals place too. Neat drinks, decent prices. No food or snacks which is a bummer. Great service!
The Mint is as classic as the Golden Steer next door. Stephanie is an excellent bartender and makes an outstanding Old Fashioned. Wife and I had drinks before dinner at The Golden Steer. I can't recommend it enough.
Gorgeous old-Vegas vibes! A great place to hang out with friends and make new friends.
A wonderful space to be in a show -- or to participate in an Open Mike!
Really weird vibe here.
Can’t put my finger on it.
Bartender late last night looked like he was in some kind of trance, like he wanted to murder people.
Really creepy and off putting. We left as soon as we noticed his weird behavior.
Another note- A lot of the people here seem to be regulars, and it is very apparent when you’re an outsider.

Easy to get to, near the check in area of the hotel. We needed to adjust our reservation and the host was very accommodating. Enjoyed a wait on the outdoor patio with great views of the weird sphere. Portion sizes are generous which led us to acciden
We are from Houston, TX, and our waitress was a sweetheart. I wish I had remembered her name. She was African-American, very light skin, petite in size, and super cute! She took care of the section on the inside in the from of the live music/entertai
Sexy, upscale, modern and chic. Perfect if you want to forgo the wild club scene but if you want solid music, good looking crowd and great drinks. No cover but they charge for tables. Affordable in comparison to tables in the large/major clubs.
