A beautiful house of a best American writer (in my opinion). To walk inside the house, you need to buy a ticket and book a tour (included). It’s better to do it in advance because the place is popular and there are a lot of tourist’s buses. The house is very interesting, definitely recommend to visit. Photos inside are not allowed.
"The loveliest home that ever was." ~Samuel Clemens. It is a lovely home and wandering the grounds and exploring is a wonderful experience. The house has all of the charm and the tour guides explain each room. You have to opt into the guided tour to see the inside and you're not allowed to take photos inside but that makes sense. We don't need people bumping into things to take a selfie. A fun and enjoyable experience and highly recommend.
Wonderful tour of the house and museum. Very informative. Such a great writer. So much history was told about Mark Twain. Great short video to watch. I recommend to watch this before you take the tour.
Thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Learned so much about Mark Twain. I never was one for history when I was younger, now I find it interesting. We did the 90 min tour, our entire group stayed longer to hear more. Wouldn't recommend it for little ones.
We loved our tour here! My husband and I just did the general house tour with our baby and had a great experience. The tour guide Justin was very thorough and we learned a lot. Beautiful time of year to go, grounds where gorgeous. Would also recommend the other exhibits.
We did the ghost tour at night. It was a fun Halloween time event to do. I brought my 15 year old daughter and she liked it as well. I wouldn't recommend it for kids younger than 13 just because it's alot of talking and walking, which I love, but definitely don't think younger kids would appreciate it. We didn't have anything spooky happen however and I wouldn't go so far as to say I feel it's haunted but it was a neat tour and great for people who like historical stuff mixed in with the weird and strange.
Lived 20+ years in CT but didn't visit until after we moved. The in character tour was great and even kept my kids, lat elementary aged, engaged. Great gift shops and found fun teachers gifts for this year. Definitely visit Harriet Beacher Stowe House next door for a very different, very thought provoking tour
It was a nice guided tour. We went guided tour with character actors. It was a nice experience and great to see century old house as it was during it’s time and learn its history. No photos inside the house.

We placed a decent sized order today and food was ready on time and we were greeted by Jerry and his staff right away. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. We look forward to ordering from here again very soon!
Your experience here can go from basic to exquisite. Off season and I was still very impressed. We did not get to experience eveything in full bloom So peaceful and calm. There is literally something for everyone. There are an abundance of photogra
Saw the play Trouble in Mind. The play was fantastic. The theater was very clean, and the ushers polite and helpful. The lobby and concessions were very well organized. The parking was only $7. Amazing night.
We are new to CT from Texas and have desperately been looking for a good Mexican eatery. We will happily come back here again! The portions and presentations are great. The quesadillas are packed!! Still looking for that deep pastor flavor we find in
I have yet to try something I didn't like. I particularly love their lavender latte and banana bread, but all their baked goods are delicious and I love the combo of bakery and flower shop, it helps create a wonderful environment to sit and enjoy. Th
