We had our wedding at the Margate in June 2023 and we highly recommend it! We had our ceremony in the pavilion, reception in the tent on the west lawn, and a bonfire on the beach for an after party. The pavilion ceremony location was stunning. Everything about the weekend was perfect and our families and guests all raved about how much they loved the venue and how fun the wedding was. The location is beautiful and they have the amazing sunset views. Most of our guest stayed at the hotel and had a great experience. I thought the rooms were reasonably priced. The rooms in the Inn and West Lawn buildings, and the ground floor of the Lakeside building were more updated/renovated, but the rest of the rooms in the Lakeside building (where most of our guests stayed and where the bridal suite was) were a little outdated (older looking carpets and furniture, etc.) but they were clean and overall fine, and I think they are working on renovating the rest of them. They also have the beach bar open in the summer which was a fun place for us and our guests to hang out throughout the weekend. We used Hart’s for our catering (also highly recommended) and ended up doing our rehearsal dinner off site but they have options for on site as well! Our coordinator Kim was the best! She was so nice and reassuring and was really great with communication via email and over the phone when I had questions. She literally thought of everything and was super organized and on top of every detail. I felt so much more at ease knowing she was there. One of the other coordinators Jordan was there helping on our wedding day as well and she was also so sweet and helpful. Really all the staff there were great and accommodating. Overall 10/10 experience and I wish we could do it all again!

The staff and pool were great, but we paid 180 a night in the winter for a dated room with construction work going on, on the floor beneath us. The shower head somehow blows air with the water, giving a hurricane type shower. No microwave, a 32" TV, no extra plugs, and no wall switches for the bedside lamp. Can't open the slider, cigarette burns in the carpet and the outlets were so old phone chargers would fall out. A window unit that shuts itself off and is knee level blowing on your face when lying in bed is the only climate control inside the room. Place could be great but badly needs a full remodel. Feel like I got ripped off, so I likely won't try again in the future. Updated response to owner. Telling folks who booked a month out that renovation is underway the day they check in is totally unacceptable. You knew we were being inconvenienced and gave us no other option due to the late notification. Also, residential window units that are set to shut off automatically are not typical in a room that charges close to 200 per night. I could go on but it's pretty clear you won't be taking any accountability for the state of your overpriced rooms. We will go elsewhere in the future.

This was mine and my husbands second time staying here and we absolutely loved it again.||We stayed for a weekend for our wedding anniversary in July. We stayed at the inn building across the street and the room was very clean and very big. We last minute asked for a bottom floor room as we didn’t realize that there was no elevator in that building and they were SO quick to accommodate that request. We love the private beach ( I was a lobster by the end of the weekend) as we sat there all day long. The bar on the dock was amazing. The service was top notch and the food and drinks were great. The staff across the board was amazing. There are so many places to eat outside of the resort too.||I would 100% this for anyone. My husband and I are making this one of our go to spots every summer!

Amazing location with views of Lake Winnipesaukee. So much wild life around, we even saw a bald eagle soaring over the lake. Rooms are a bit dated but loved the cozy feel of the place. Staff was beyond kind. Pool and sauna are HUGE. We will definitely be returning!

Great Beach bar. Has outdoor pool indoor pool hot tub and Great lake front! Fresh coffee all day and was delicious. Lobby and grounds are beautiful and well kept. People very friendly. Great seating area outside of coffee area. Beautiful flowers in the seating area. Mattress very comfortable the only reason I gave the room four out of five is the door sticks and can barely open it other than that the room was great. The only thing I do not like is that you can't bring a cooler to the beach full of water or soda or juice boxes for your kids due to the fact that they have a beach bar think this is a really bad idea on their behave.

This place is amazing. You really need to make sure you get the right room. It's definitely better to be on the property than across the street. This place does an amazing job with kids. They offer a lot of activities for them to do. Rain or shine staying right at our destination made it all the more enjoyable. Breakfast should be included, and microwaves should be in the room. We were very close to everything when we did venture out, making travel very convenient. We can't wait to come back. It was definitely a great stay.

Location is great. That’s where it ends. My wife and I checked in today. When we got to our room the beds and pillows felt damp. Also there were no comforters .. only several layers of sheets. Thinking maybe it was damp due to the a/c blowing toward the beds.. we went to shut the a/c down and turn on the heat. The heat nearly smoked us out of the room. It was a horrible burning smell. We shut it down and noticed black mold covering the a/c and heating vents. We called the front desk and they moved us to another room down the hall and it was exactly the same experience. We immediately checked out less than 30 minutes after checking in.. and spent the next hour searching for another place to stay as we were hours from home.. on a motorcycle.. and it was getting late. I do NOT recommend this place. I’d rather sleep in a tent.

Pros: The Margate has nice grounds with their own beach and bar on the beach. The workers are young and very polite. Some of them are part of a work abroad program. Cons: We stayed in the Inn Building - across the street from the main complex. We had to cross Route 3 which is very busy! While the grounds are kept well; the rooms are not cozy at all. They are spacious but the rooms need updating. They had a postage size TV on the wall with service that kept going in and out. The beds were so uncomfortable - felt like we were sleeping on a wooden board with pillows like rocks! The bathroom door kept sticking. The $14 buffet breakfast is NOT worth it - you can get the same at a Marriott or Hilton for free with cooked oatmeal which this breakfast didn’t have! We dined there once and that was it! When we checked out - the woman was so impersonal - almost mean looking - didn’t even thank us for our stay. Totally overpriced - charging us $400 a night on the weekend. What I don’t understand is with the criticism from the reviews why they are not taking steps to improve things! My husband kept persisting I write this review because he was so upset! We will never return to this resort!

I love it here! So many options to make crafts, even if you aren’t “crafty” (and trust me, I’m not). Use the pottery wheel, blow glass, paint a canvas- all on your own OR in an organized group setting. This is my favorite way because you get
