I love old houses and immediately loved this one. Positives- It was spacious (we booked a family sized room for only 2 of us). -It was easy to find. -The a/c worked and the room was cool and comfortable when we arrived. - Room was clean, plenty of towels, pillows, blankets- something often lacking in other places we have stayed. -The gorgeous 4 poster bed was huge and comfortable. -The refrigerator wasn’t full sized, but it wasn’t tiny either so we were fine with it. - The porch was exactly what you picture if asked for a “southern porch.” My only “disappointment” is dumb, but I wish the porch ceiling was blue. -Checking in and out were both simple and accommodations were made to store our luggage without charge. A lot of places charge for these little things and this location did not. -Very little interactions with the staff, but they were always polite and cheerful -When we contacted the manager, the responses were quick. -We had incidents that needed maintenance attention and they were resolved relatively quickly. -We only had a rental car for a day and parking was easy, but I could see how busy it could get. Things to think of: -It’s an old house, not a hotel. Remember that if you book it. -There’s no one to answer questions in front of you; you have to message the manager. -Hot water takes time to travel to the shower and the pressure was so-so. -We heard every guest come in and go out every time they did so. We listened to every guest traipse up or down the stairs (we chose the room near the front entry though) -The chandelier in the entryway shines through the window above the door directly onto the bed -There are minor cosmetic things that could be done to “spruce up” the room, but nothing serious enough to take away the charm. -NOLA streets are long so think it through, especially at the end of the night. Uber was typically $7-10 and totally worth it. Overall, if you stay in an old house, you have to appreciate its charm. Would pick it again.
First off $75 cleaning fee for a one night stay? This is a blatant cash grab. If I wanted a mediocre airbnb, I would have rented one. The rooms are ikea chic, the courtyard is filled with construction noise and staff using leaf blowers rather than brooms, so don’t think of having a lazy morning coffee. People came right next to the table I was trying to relax at and began using drills and blowers. No one talked to me, apologized or gave a care about me as a guest. No one got me check in details and there is no one working a desk. Courtyard is a major security risk with a side gate that is left open most of the time and does not auto lock. I would not recommend anyone stay here.
Located in French quarters, room I was in was quaint and clean excellent location. Close to Bourbon street 10 minute walk there several restaurants surrounding
Located about half a mile from Jackson square. A very cool historical boarding style house. I stayed in room #4 upstairs. It had a great historic atmosphere. It is elegant for the time and excellently preserved. It is also a home that is nearly 200 years old, so don't expect it to have every modern convenience.
A beautiful historic home in a safe neighborhood close to everything you could need. I reserved our room through Airbnb.
Appalling. No hot water at all (check Airbnb reviews). Anything other than helpful and full of lies. Avoid avoid avoid.
It was our first visit to NOLA and we wanted to stay in "a house with balcony." The owners forewarn that this is an old building and that things aren't the same as they would be in a modern place. At the end of the day, we didn't spend that much time inside. The hotel is within walking distance from the French Quarter but the neighborhood is very quiet and my daughter and I always felt safe walking in the evenings. I was staying in the infamous Royal #5 with the bathroom across the hall. I missed this detail in the room description and not having the advertised bathrobes in the room was definitely a surprise. But, at the end of the day, all of once lived in a dorm :). I never ran into a single soul during my "trips" across the hall. Also didn't see any hotel staff ever. While we didn't travel during the busy season, the stay wasn't that cheap - over $100 per night.
1 year. Found this off the beaten path in NO. It is on the North end of the French Quarter. It is in the "Art District". It was a short walk to Frenchmans Street where all the cool jazz clubs and Restaurants were and just a short drive to all the other NO activities. Quiet residential area. The old mansion has been turned into a hotel/ BnB but there we no brkfst due to COVID.In its day this was a fine residence with exquisite workmanship. That was a long time ago. The vibe of its past remains but It was not modernized so the rooms were rustic but functional. It suited our needs and I am easy so no problem except the water pressure in the old clawfoot tub /shower. The managers were not onsite and it is run by a mgt team. Just suit your expectations and enjoy the history, courtyard, and proximity to the areas restaurants and sights and enjoy yourself at a reasonable rate for a few nights.
