The Mansion at Elfindale - Bed & breakfast in Springfield - 1701 S Fort Ave, USA

What a wonderful surprise! Booked a night on a family road trip, and couldn't have been happier. Beautiful property with great prices, friendly staff, and historic rooms. Highly recommend if you are in the area!

We had our wedding at Mansion at Elfindale and I can't say enough good things! The venue was exactly what we were looking for and more traditional, and was already so beautiful we only had to add to the decor instead of starting of scratch! Being able to come to the venue and not leave until after the reception made the experience so much more laid back. We also had a lot of out of town family and many of them stayed in the venue as well. Each room is unique and lovely, it feels like you are stepping back in time and not like you are in the middle of modern day Springfield.

I am kid and eating for my parents with their advice, and from my perspective this was an Absolutely wonderful place to stay at. It is filled with old rooms and pieces of history that are Beautiful. My mom says “I think it is lovely!” And my grandma says “it is really neat.” And it is a wonderful place I advise that you come! And we also had the John O’Day Suite

What a delightful surprise! I trust my hubby’s ability to research and select historical B&B’s for our travels, but this place was so much more than I expected. Our room was huge and well appointed, the bed so comfortable, and Myra was eager to share all about the mansion’s past. Breakfast was great, especially the spicy pancakes. Definitely a place I will recommend.

My daughter and I found this place on a Route 66 road trip! We were so happy to stay here! Three stories of gorgeous rooms to explore. We were the only people staying in that night, so we were a little jumpy from watching The Shining! A very large, gracious home, fun to stay in and explore! Each room is a suite with its own bathroom, mini fridge, and coffee service. The king size bed was a dream with the softest sheets I've ever slept on. It was a sad thing to leave the next day. I only gave it 4 stars for rooms because there were some dead flies and bugs in the bath and windows. 3-stars for service because there was no ice we could find in the whole house, and no breakfast, not even a granola bar and a piece of fruit! Odd for a bed & breakfast. But we will come back as it was a luxury bed with terrific linens and priced comparably to local chain hotels that have NO ambiance or history! Terrific stay!

Lovely hostess and peaceful environment. Attention needed to be given to having hot water, tea bags, etc and explanation on using the coffee machine which we had difficulty getting to work. It could have been better presented and ready for morning use and having someone available in the morning to assist would be helpful. The shag carpet in our room needed to be replaced. My husband liked the powerful shower head. It's outdated but the relaxing feel and sense of calm made the stay nice overall.

Bathroom sink was completely plugged up. Had to locate a sink that was not plugged up. We were the only occupants which is most interesting. It was quiet so that was nice. No breakfast was served which was ok since there were good restaurants near by. The price was reasonable.

My wife and I stayed here over Valentine's day weekend and also celebrated our wedding anniversary during our stay! Myra was amazing and went out of her way to make our stay special! She also gave us a tour of the building and showed us some of the other rooms. Her and the rest of the staff are just the best! We loved exploring the building and the entire property during our stay! So much history and unique things about the mansion, we could go on forever about how much we loved it! We plan on staying here anytime we come to Springfield! Book here! You will not regret it!
