This lodge is in the Fossil rim safari park and is beautiful. We stayed in the Peregrine room which is a master suit. They have a wonderful comine room with a TV, Dining room and full kitchen they also have a game room. Lodge is set up like a family ranch. You have your own room but are able to use the other areas giving a since of family with strangers. They have a wonderful balcony hugging the whole front of the lodge. With plenty of seating all around. |While staying, their campground area is open to you and you can hang out and observe wildlife at your convenience especially in the morning and evening when they are moving about.
My family & friends have stayed at the Lodge & Cabins multiple times. Last weekend I rented my college age twins two cabins for them & their friends as a birthday present. They loved waking up in the morning to exotic wildlife just outside their cabin door. A great family place & the Lodge is a great DFW weekend getaway for couples. I highly recommend.
Love it! We stayed at the lounge so we could do the morning safari tour. The suite was not as luxury as expected for the price but beautiful views specially in the morning & evening. Friendly staff, & convenient parking. Definitely coming back!
Have stayed In both the parrot and the peregrine rooms here. Both were nice rooms with large tubs. The parrot's tub could be called huge actually. Both rooms have parking for one car each right near them. The peregrine is on a floor by itself which is neat. We have stayed here a few times and it has always been nice. The breakfast has been nice each time just make sure to let them know about food allergies. The first time we went it was a buffet so we thought nothing about it, and the second time they just made us plates for breakfast because there was only a small group of people. The plates had eggs on them and my wife is allergic our fault just a heads up. I cannot recommend the tours enough the behind the scenes one is quite nice because you get to see things that you do not normally get to. My warning for the peregrine would have to be that if you have issues with tight stair cases it is not for you. The vents for the AC in the peregrine room rattle as well. Then my in general warning is that it is an older house so there some noise issues. If someone turns on a vent fan they make quite a bit of noise. We sleep with a fan so it didn't bother us, but I could see how it might annoy someone else.
Our one-night stay here was fantastic. Even though we had no wifi - it was down for the whole facility - we had a great time. We stayed in the Parrot Room which has the most AMAZING jacuzzi bath I've ever experienced. My husband and I made an error and poured too much bubble bath it, creating a family comedy-worthy situation. It was so fun.
We really enjoyed our stay here! I grew up going to Fossil Rim as a kid and always wanted to stay on property but we couldn't afford it. So for my birthday this year, we spent the money and it was wonderful! A few things: We stayed in the Egret room. This room does not have its own bathroom. The bathroom is shared with the Hummingbird room. Each room gets one half of the drawers and counter space. And its down the hall so you must leave your room to walk to the bathroom. Its not a big deal, was just a surprise. There are stairs up to the communal area/kitchen and they are STEEP, spiral stairs. Anyone with mobility problems would not be able to navigate them. And we had to keep an eye on our toddler at all times. Its not super kid friendly. I didnt expect it to be kid-proof but the stairs and the large amount of breakable things were a little different. All the other people staying that weekend had kids and nothing was broken, so its not a deal breaker, you just need to be prepared to watch your kids constantly. Its not quiet. We all had trouble getting to sleep because the walls were like paper and every move someone made was heard. Especially since we were on the lowest level, we could hear people walking above us. Aside from that, its GORGEOUS! And its a kind of peaceful I've never felt anywhere else. The staff is kind and helpful and breakfast was decent. The kitchen is a full kitchen so feel free to bring whatever you want to make food - its stocked with plates, cookware, cups, etc. The only thing is that the oven does not work. Be sure to book a sunrise tour! You wont regret it!!! The early morning tour gets your right out behind the feed truck and you'll see all kinds of animals that cant be seen otherwise. Absolutely the best part of the only experience - and its only available to those who stay at the lodge. The pick you right up from breakfast!
We booked the whole lodge for our family of 8 adults plus 2 littles (both under age 4) for December 26-28. Even though we had just all been together for the Christmas holiday dinners, we wanted more time with our adult children, spouses, & grandkids. What a fun place to visit! Just an hour & a half away from home, but we felt like we were a world away. And during COVID we felt very safe because we had the whole place to ourselves. ||||We’ve stayed here a few times, both in the Lodge, as well as the Safari Camp. They have redecorated the lodge a bit since the last time we were here. It didn’t look bad before, but looks even better now. ||||The BEST thing about staying here, besides seeing the animals, is the food. Chef Kelly outdid herself! We had one guest who’s on a Keto diet, and 3 vegetarians. Kelly really understood the Keto diet and accommodated that guest perfectly. While Kelly was very knowledgeable about Keto, she also handled the vegetarian diets, and somehow made ALL of the food so well for even those of us who were ‘Normal”! She somehow managed to accommodate all of these ways of eating where we, mostly, all ate the same thing at the same time. ||||Our first night’s dinner was Thai food, finished off with a dessert was a crème brûlée, which was probably the second best I’ve ever had. The breakfast dishes were also creative, and flavorful. ||||Rather than being irritated or stressed out by having to accommodate so many dietary restrictions, Kelly embraced the challenge and made the food tasteful and wonderful for all.||||Kelly is a seriously good chef. She could easily be working in a very upscale restaurant in any large city, or have her own restaurant. But I’m glad she was here, in little old Glenrose, Texas on those few dates after Christmas when we all felt like we needed to get away from the world and COVID.
Staying at The Lodge was a great, fun experience. It is a beautiful location and has a bed and breakfast feel. There is a game room with air hockey and pool and there are animals about 8 feet away from the balcony. The manager was wonderful in suggesting a drive to the camp the night we arrived. We got to see some animals along the way and visited the watering hole there at the camp. It's a great place to stay and you get to visit the park for free when you stay ovsr night!
