Today and all year so far the local downtown has put on lots of fun activities and events. Today they were giving away self care items and school supplies, and there was so much I didn't take one of each because it would be too much. I've been to multiple other events they've hosted such as a pumpkin carving pizza party, and canes and painting. They really go above and beyond with their community events. I hope they never stop! Additionally, they have finally fully built the pool! They're improving the place a lot this year! Look at this cute tote bag they gave me to put the self care goodies in.
I been living at The Local for two years now and I just renewed my lease. I love how it’s downtown with nearby stores, things to do and walking distance from campus. Everyone in the office is nice and willing to help you out with anything as well as maintenance is quick to fix any issues. I enjoy the events and giveaways they do every once in a while:)
i have lived at the local since August. i will start off by saying that i do not think this is a bad apartment compared to some in san mo, maintenance is quick and nice, the rooms and kitchen are all a decent size so it doesn't feel cramped, and the convenience of being close to campus is nice. however, what you get is NOT worth what you pay for. i was denied a parking spot after being told my application was approved, the walls are so incredibly thin that if someone is talking at a normal volume in the kitchen or living room, you will definitely hear them from your bedroom even if the door is closed. they are so thin that when trying to install a small shelf, i couldnt get a screw in because it broke all the way through the wall. i would estimate they are about 1/2 a centimeter thick, the doors are hollow and i think theyre made out of plastic, the carpet on the floors is not stapled or glued in, its just placed down in squares. it can be lifted off with no tools like a rug. the latches on the balcony doors dont work properly, so you have to slam the door for it to shut, the balcony cannot safely hold more than 3 people without overcrowding, and the handle on the elevator fell off when i rested my hand on it with no weight pr pressure being put on it. all of these things lead me to feel like it is not worth the money im paying in rent.
I'll describe my experience, even though I have contacted multiple times. Be warned, many of these comments are not legit and products of recent tours aka people who have not experienced living here. The complex is roach infested and they care very little. I have brought multiple killed roaches to the front office and ask for help, just to have them send out their pest control to briefly spray the air vents but not caulk up any of the points of entry. Not to mention the lack of urgency with other matters such as mold, water leaks, and other safety concerns. I would seriously consider avoiding this complex if possible. It may look nice on the outside, on the tour, and in reviews, but they do their best to hide the major issues going on behind the walls (literally). Not worth the toll on my well-being, and DEFINITELY not worth the hefty rent.
The Local Downtown is such a great place with such loving staff, especially Mondo! He’s always in a positive mood and cares about the residents in the complex. I enjoy stopping by the front office because the office staff is so kind and helpful with our needs, especially with getting our packages and providing snacks for us residents. The study room and gym and also great amenities the Local has to offer, and maintenance is quick! Location is convenient since it’s so close to campus and the square :)
This apartment is so great. I love all the amenities around here. The maintenance is super quick and will get the issue resolved quickly. Mondo is really helpful even when he isn’t working. Mondo would help me assure that this was the best place to live especially with the square and campus so close. The atmosphere is so nice around the local downtown. This is definitely the best place to live.

Dog friendly inside... new coffee/tea concept...added protein in every cup. Also delicious freshly made waffles...Elmo was the owner of this Cafe that was so new. Recommend the fruity pebble waffle and hazelnut coffee.
Aloha Hawaiian bros ....it was a definite pleasure trying this place out. I was in town just for a visit, and we wanted something different from regular Tex-Mex food. Hawaiian bros is it!

The food is authentic and delicious, and portions and prices are just right! We live in New Braunfels, but it is totally worth the drive to San Marcos! Talk to Omar, he will take care of you. Mediterranean cuisine, very relaxing atmospher
