Lovely inn in a beautiful neighborhood. Innkeepers Karen and Steve were warmly accommodating to my request to eat breakfast outside on the porch instead of indoors (I remain Covid cautious) and my sister's special dietary needs. And they kindly had our room ready early for my husband and me because our plane arrived several hours before check in. Karen also had helpful advice on things to see in and around Asheville.||Our room was spacious, pretty, quiet, and relaxing. My sister had an adjoining smaller room and it was fun in the evenings to keep the door open before we went to sleep.||Sitting on the inn porch in the evenings was delightful. ||We chose to stay in Montford instead of right downtown at the suggestion of a local friend. While you can’t walk outside and immediately have a dozen restaurants around within a few blocks, there are a couple of good restaurants within a few minutes walk and downtown starts 10 or 15 minutes walk away. In return, you get a quieter leafy neighborhood with lovely architecture that's nice for a morning stroll. Plus we got restaurant delivery a couple of times and ate on the inn porch!||Note that rooms are on the 2nd or 3rd floor, and there are stairs up to the main entrance. None of us are young and we were fine, but FYI I didn’t see any elevators or chair lifts, so I believe you do need to be OK going up and down stairs. Steve was happy to help with luggage, though. ||Highly recommend The Lion and the Rose.

What an amazing little gem near downtown Ashville! From the moment I made the reservation the communication was impeccable. I got a text from Kathy Grisham, the onsite host, within a few hours welcoming me. Kathy Grisham was the most amazing host we have ever experienced at a B&B! During my reservation, I mentioned that the trip was for our wedding anniversary so she even texted me and asked what we wanted for breakfast to eat and to drink (mimosas or bloody marys). Arrival was smooth with detailed instructions as we were arriving after hours. The Inn was clean and they had so many nice touches such as freshly baked cookies, small snacks and sodas in a small room off the kitchen. We had a beautiful, clean room with plenty of towels and fresh linens. We even had fresh roses in our room since it was a special occasion! They provided robes, shampoo, soap and even a noise machine (although we did not experience any street noise at all). The location is not far from downtown but in a quiet historical neighborhood called Montford. I would definitely stay again and will recommend it to others. It was a wonderful place to stay and they went above and beyond. All of the special touches did not disappoint!

From the moment we arrived, Karen and Steve made us feel very comfortable. They brew their own beer and my husband and I enjoyed a glass the evening of our arrival. It was delicious as was the cookies or cake Karen left outside our door every evening of our 3 day stay. The Fannie Brice room had a 4 poster bed and 2 chairs for sitting. The bathroom was small, but we expect that from an historic house such as this . Every morning at 7:30 we were welcomed with a thermos of coffee and mugs outside our bedroom door. Then a delicious breakfast was served at 9:00 in their downstairs dining room. We enjoyed walking around the historic Montford area and there are a couple of restaurants within walking distance. It’s about a mile into town, but we chose to drive and park at the visitor center for free and walk around town from there or take the very entertaining Hop On Hop Off Trolley Tour. Karen and Steve were excellent hosts. They were so helpful and friendly. We really felt as if we were staying in the home of a friend or relative. We will return! Tracy and Luke

We had a fantastic experience at The Lion and The Rose. We stayed two nights in the Craigs-Tom suite. The suite was spacious and comfortable, and we particularly enjoyed eating the delicious breakfasts each morning on the small private balcony. The king bed was comfortable, with soft sheets that smelled fantastic! Steve and Karen are very friendly and helpful hosts, cheerfully providing everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We would love to return if we have the opportunity to visit Asheville again.

Karen and Steve were very welcoming. We enjoyed the breakfasts and the conversation around the table. Close to everything. You can walk all the way downtown--a little over a mile--or easily drive to the various areas and sites in Asheville. Great restaurant right across the street (Nine Mile). Loved sitting on the front porch with a coffee or a glass of wine.

We recently stayed at the Lion and Rose Bed and Breakfast mid week for 3 nights. If you love staying in traditional, victorian-style bed and breakfasts, you cant go wrong staying with Steve and Karen. They are fabulous hosts and were very welcoming in their home. Each breakfast served was delicious. Our room was lovely, with an assortment of books to read and the bed was extremely comfortable. We highly recommend the Lion and the Rose.

Great rest stop. Classic historic B&B, located near everything in Ashville. Easy walk to art district and downtown. Nice room, comfortable and clean. Karen and Steve were great hosts, even put coffee outside our room every morning at 7. Highly recommended.

Karen & Steve were such FABULOUS hosts! We couldn't have picked a better place to stay. Extremely clean and welcoming. They also had some amazing snacks and coffee upon arrival. The entire process from my first contact with Karen and Steve until the end was perfect, no issues whatsoever. I would HIGHLY recommend this beautiful Bed & Breakfast the next time you are in Asheville.
