The Junction Hotel and Hostel - Featured Reviews (639)
This place deserves 5 star reviews. Excellent location walkable to downtown and a handful of wonderful restaurants. We stayed here for multiple nights while our car was in the shop. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They have a full kitchen you can use in the common area. The room is quiet and clean. Yes it’s not a fancy hotel but it’s comfortable and pleasant. We will definitely come stay here again!
If you are a light sleeper, this is NOT the place for you. The walls are super thin and you can hear your neighbors and anyone in the hall like they are right next to you.
I didn't expect luxury for the price and while the paint, furniture, and fixtures were old, the room was clean. The bed was pretty comfortable. There was no coffee maker in my room, so that was a bit of a disappointment.
My 2 night stay cost $179 and they held a deposit of $150 on my credit card for almost a week after I checked out.
Altogether a good value in Durango. The room was very clean and appeared to have been recently renovated. The bed was very comfortable. The room was large and equipped with an good AC, decent refrigerator, microwave, bathtub/shower, large bath vanity, and a TV with lots of available channels. The only negative I could notice is a noise occasionally heard from outside the room. I arrived on foot after completing a long wilderness backpacking trip. Staff was very friendly and helpful. A free city trolley stop was available nearby to transport me easily around town. Overall my stay was a pleasant experience for a tired hiker, especially when compared to other motels I've stayed at in the area in the past, regardless of price.
Great location. Staff was pleasant to work with. As other reviews have mentioned, the rooms are the cleanest and walls are pretty thin but I knew what I was getting into. Great place for the value. I would stay again.
Absolute nightmare to work with. We had three rooms. We arrived after the posted check in time to be told our rooms still weren’t ready, but would be in 40 minutes. An hour later, they weren’t ready. TWO HOURS after check in, When they finally WERE ready, we stumbled onto the (completely blameless!) housekeeping staff, who assured us they would be ready in 20 more minutes. The front desk blamed a “language barrier” with the housekeeping staff, who had zero trouble communicating with us and seemed very hurried by the front desk. The housekeepers were the most kind and professional people on the property. After we finally got in, the Rooms look ROUGH, paint scratched off of everything, some outlets didn’t work, and then by the time we got comfortable we noticed MULTIPLE charges coming out of the bank, for about FIVE TIMES the actual room cost. The front desk said it was our room costs and the other huge amounts were “deposits”, but also couldn’t answer why they took a deposit AND the room charge at the same time and why the deposits are twice the cost of even one room. She also threw in “we tried to help you out, we could have charged you more deposits but only charged a couple”. They said they would fall off, but only one has. Front desk said they can’t do anything as there isn’t a manager on site but they did give me the managers phone number, who conveniently didn’t answer.
The ONLY good things were that the pillows were soft and the housekeeping staff was really really hardworking and kind.
The Junction is a great affordable option when staying in Durango. It is away from the main bar/restaurant scene downtown but everything is accessible from the Durango Trolley public transit system. If you are on a budget this is the cheapest option you'll find.

I stayed in the bunkhouse for the Junction's cheapest option. Suffice to say it's not great but little improvements would go a long way. Some of the bunk's screw are loose and squeak awfully when people move. The shower definitely is due to be replaced. They also only give you a shampoo/conditioner packet to use in there.

The common space is where you'll want to spend most of your time if you're in the bunk house. It is a cozy area and promotes chatter between guests. I wish the TVs worked for more modern apps than just YouTube. Being able to chill and watch a movie in the living space TV would be welcome.

The kitchen is nice with two ovens, big fridge, and plenty of counter space. However, man the sponge in the sink was gross with no clean ones around. No dishwasher either so those dishes for sure are not clean.
We loved our stay at the junction. The location was perfect, the room was perfect size for my daughter, bestfriend and i. The property was really pretty with the river flowing right behind it. The front desk was very welcoming. My only complaint is I could hear the person above us at 530 am moving things around and they only had an all in one shampoo/conditioner and both ice machines were broken. But all in all I definitely recommend this property.
Positive: Good location in Durango Negative: Beds definitely not queen. 2nd bed missing mattress. Box spring in its place. Smoke detector above the bed flashes green LED every minute. So bright it illuminates entire room and you can read writing. Needed sleep masks to sleep. Loud AC and fridge.
This location was perfect, clean and well stocked. The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious thank you Brenda, We loved all the breakfast options. I must say we travel a lot and this is the first time I slept in any hote
