The Inn at Boatworks - Featured Reviews (96)
We really enjoyed our time in Tahoe City and staying here at the Boatworks. We got a last minute reservation and everything worked out perfect. Our room was clean and the the bed was very comfortable. We had to park behind the hotel, but it worked out great as it was somewhat hidden. The location couldn't have been better and within walking distance to everything. We plan to come back again! Thank you!
Such a pleasant surprise! We wanted to expand our ski holiday and couldn't find any place that could accommodate us, The Inn at Boatworks had an opening and we took it. We were in room 26, the king suite. It is perfect for ski trips, lots of extra room for gear, boots, clothes. A roomy shower, no tub but that didn't matter to us. The room was super quiet, which shocked us for the hotel is located between the Safeway and the bar Jake's.
Added bonus, we were able to walk to all the restaurants and bars after a hard day skiing. We will definitely be staying there again.
Honestly would give this place 4.5 out of 5. Since cannot give half stars on google review, I’m rounding it up for an overall wonderful experience:
I went with a group of friends in July 2024 and stayed in their Deluxe Family Suite. I don’t have photos without people in it but I’ll describe the room! So the room door is right attached to the parking lot, so short walk! The parking lot is not that big either. Once you enter the door, you see two bunk beds, so 4 beds basically. They are relatively short bunk and very sturdy. In that same area, there’s also a pull out couch and a tv. Then, there’s an entrance to a very big bathroom area with jacuzzi, toilet, large double sinks, shower with glass door. One bathroom. Then there’s a smaller room for one king bed. The room can definitely sleep 7 people comfortably.
Pros:
1. If you want to bring a group of friends and like the idea of staying in one room, this would be perfect! If you like the idea of having more space, then this might be too small for you.
2. At that time, this was the cheapest hotel nearby. Maybe prices fluctuates but for the cheapest hotel we could find, it was really great!
3. One of my friends went the year before and she said it’s been renovated and much better now; so if you came in the past, I think things have changed now with the renovation and you might want to give it a try again!
4. Walking distance to water area, food / breakfast places, a cruise ship is right there also. We booked the Tahoe Gal but it was cancelled a few hours before we could go for maintenance, otherwise this is pretty exciting to be able to just walk a few short minutes from the hotel to take that 2 hour cruise around the lake. Pretty bummed when the cruise (not affiliated with Boatworks I think) cancelled. Short drive to other fun places too!
5. Dog friendly!
6. Friendly staff but very busy. They are relatively chill, fast, and friendly. Very busy because the place was sold out the time I went.
Cons:
1. If you’re going with a group of people that do not feel comfortable changing in the open, this might be a slight hassle. The bathroom provides privacy but can only be used by one person at a time since the bathtub and toilet has no divider and the bathroom area is divided by a glass door so people can see. If everyone is comfortable with each other there might be less of a hassle. But still, keep in mind if you are bringing a large family that there’s only 1 toilet. Interesting design. Wasn’t a problem for us thankfully.
2. There was 3 or 4 moths that night by the lights. Thankfully I’m not scared of them so I killed them all but my friends were a little scared haha. I think that’s because of just the area we’re at.
3. On our second night there, the parking lot was full. Thankfully there were street parking.
4. It could be a little stuffy in there but the AC helps a lot!
I personally will come back again!
We had a couple issues that made this a three start review.
Our room was not cleaned daily.
Because our room was not cleaned daily our towels from the first night were still wet on the second night even after hanging them up to dry. I tried to get fresh towels but there was never anyone at the front desk. I went down three times over a few hours. First time there was a note saying they were at dinner. The second two times there was a note saying they'd "be back soon". We ended up using wet towels after showing.
Aside from this the hotel has nice enough clean, basic, rooms for a reasonable price. Our bathroom had been recently renovated it was very nice. The location is excellent. Easy walking to restaurants, shops, and the lake.
With a few tweaks to make sure rooms are cleaned and staff is present it would be a great place for the money. Maybe we just got unlucky but I can only relay the experience I had.
Wonderful place, very clean and friendly. Great location :) 3 mins walking distance from restaurant and beach. Safe and quiet. Easy to find. A lot of parking space. We stayed in suit with spa. The bed cozy and smells on clean. Great little vacation:)
Recently stayed here and skied at Palisades, only 10 min away. It was a great hotel, with amazing service and workers. Great location and an amazing room with perfect vibes. Very clean and cozy. Unfortunately, our trip was cut short due to a pipe being broken. They informed us and personally relocated us, with our permission/knowledge, to another hotel with no complications and refunded us for the nights that were cut short.
Stayed in room 6.
Snow storm was occurring while we were there and they had snow plowers coming in to clean so we could drive out and one of the workers provided us with a scraper for our car windows.
Highly recommend and we will be back next season!!!!
Positive: "" Negative: The shower with heart shaped tub was odd. No seperate shower. The room picture showed hard surface flooring which was one of the reasons I choose this hotel, but our room had old dirty carpet. No ice machine. Overpriced for the room.
The location is great, right in the middle of Tahoe City. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was a bit small for me, but I'm 6'4". Service and employees were helpful and polite.
This is an adorable tucked away cafe that's delicious. Parking is a tight squeeze but don't let that scare you away. They have multiple people working the registers so the lines move fast! We ordered the minestrone soup, carrot cake which was not ove
Will give this place an easy 5 stars. Place is close to everything, quiet and walking distance to the lake. They have very good coffee too!!! We loved waking up and sipping freshly brewed coffee in the morning. Clean rooms and comfy bed. Would love t
