Everything about our stay at the Inn and Tavern at Meander was delightful! It's a beautiful colonial era estate that preserves a welcoming, authentic and comfortable sense of the times. Everyone on staff was a pleasure to be with and and Sunday Supper on the porch of the Inn was delicious.. Our suite was large and well decorated. We enjoyed just being in the manor house and walking the grounds. The General Manager, Mr. Daniel Bushey, went out of his way to make our visit memorable.

What a wonderful weekend we had in the Summer Kitchen at the Inn & Tavern at Meander. You first enter through the white brick columns and make you way up the driveway to the striking home at the top of the knoll that immediately transports you back in time. Our cottage was used as the kitchen for the main house 200 plus years ago and has been transformed to a well appointed spacious living space with modern conveniences and the most comfortable bed that gave us the best night's sleep. Dinner and breakfast were made order and so delicious. We were greeted on arrival by the general manager Daniel who we had the added bonus of speaking with throughout our stay. He is well versed in the incredible history of the home, grounds and surrounding area and shared some wonderful stories with us. The property is a work in progress which we liked. If you are seeking all modern amenities and everything brand new and posh, this is not the place for you but if you are looking for a tranquil escape from the bustle of city life and a respite in the county, you'll love it here as we did. We truly felt like guests in a friends a home and can't wait to return.

My husband surprised me with a spectacular get a way for our anniversary. How fabulous to find this wonderful B&B in Locust Dale, Virgina. Not only is it charming and filled with historical facts, but the dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious! And let’s talk about the view of the Blue Ridge at sunset!! Daniel, the general manager, made us feel so welcome and made sure our stay was memorable. We had a private cabin that was a great blend of coziness and charm. The rest of the staff was friendly and always accommodating! We can’t return to explore more of the area and all it has to offer:-)

We did a 2 night get-away from DC to the Meander. Our first time there - but definitely not our last. Currently the Inn is very rustic - with all the charm (& some hiccups) that comes along with a house built in the 1700s. However, the cottages are modern, updated and spacious - many with fireplaces and private patios. Dinner was a delight - a wonderful pre fixe menu with plenty of options. All four of us loved our meal with nice selection of wines from the local wineries. As good as dinner was - breakfast was even better. Sitting out on the porch, overlooking the Blue Ridge Mts with a steaming cup of coffee and gourmet breakfast options - a lazy, lingering morning - yep. But even better than that is the staff - Daniel and Chandra are always there ready to answer any questions, give suggestions or help with any issues. Within an hour, you feel as if you've known them for years. They are the true heart and soul of this Inn. We cant wait to go back and see all the changes planned. What a gem of a place in the country.

I recently spent a fun and relaxing weekend at Meander! The rooms were cool and comfortable in the summer heat. The food was delicious and with ample portions at meal times. What I liked most is the relaxed atmosphere and the beautiful grounds to tramp around during the days and nights! Meander is a beautiful, historical, and comfortable place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of city life😊😋🤓

Place is homely, in need of restoration but yet captivating in its own distinct way. Good place to unwind and disconnect from the busy life in DC. Staff seems to be living onsite and its a hit and miss with the service, although very attentive, don’t expect 5 stars dining yet the food prices really reflect that, food was yum, specially breakfast. The fact that they have dogs entering the kitchen, the dining room and the inside premises leaves lots to say in cleanliness and safety, as we saw the dogs peeing around the inside the main house and dining room several times around the corners in different days. Just a few attention to details and cleanliness and this place could take its charm to really good places, a diamond in the rough with a much desperate and needed polishing.

This historic mansion is quite unique! Our suite was huge! The bed was comfortable and having the gas fireplace in the living room was a plus during the cool, damp weather. The staff really makes this place a gem. General Manager, Daniel is a joy to talk with and is very accommodating. Restaurant server, Chandra is a local who steered us in the right direction for restaurants and shopping in Culpeper. She is delightful. Chef Greer is very friendly and his culinary creations are delicious! We'll be back!

As we entered the long driveway, we were immediately impressed by the stately manor house at the top of the hill. This house is not a modern building designed to look old, it is an actual home, begun more than 250 years ago, and lovingly maintained ever since. Meander shares its history with its guests. The interior reflects its several additions: The hardwood floor planks vary in widths and levels, the stairs are narrower, and the floors and doors creak. Meander was home to many generations of people who lived and worked here and raised their families. The rooms, suites, and cottages are clean and beautifully decorated in period reproductions; the beds and upholstered furniture are comfortable. We slept well, and we enjoyed the public spaces in the manor house and gardens. Sunsets viewed from the back porch were spectacular. The breakfasts were delicious and generous. Daniel, the general manager, was welcoming, friendly, and very attentive, with over 20 years in hospitality; he clearly loves his work and loves this property. Our experience here was more than pleasant, it was extraordinary. We look forward to returning. Lafayette slept here. Thomas Jefferson was a personal friend of the first owner and was a frequent guest. You can stay here too, and become part of the history of this remarkable place.
