I want to be nice and fair. First, the grounds are fantastic. Beautiful landscape. Nicely taken care of. We enjoy the restaurants. It’s really very beautiful. Now on to the rest. Unfortunately, the rooms need help. We were originally booked for an updated room at Fiddlers Pond. I have to address the paper blinds they chose to put up. Extremely unfortunate choice. I have never seen paper blinds. It takes 20 minutes to hand fold them up like an accordion. No light blocking. Literally you clip them up with clips. They really have to go. We came in the room, attempted to put up these “blinds” and that, coupled with a running toilet, asked to be moved to the classic rooms. For what you pay, the rooms aren’t the best. We’ve been coming here several years, and were overwhelmingly frustrated with the new room updates. All that to say, it’s still so beautiful here!! They’ve outdid themselves with regards to the hotel grounds and landscaping. I debated between a two star and three star. I think things have to be improved, but with that means they will charge even more.

Such a great place! It was our first visit and we had such a nice time. The grounds are beautiful. Very wooded and shaded. Ski lift not working, but it was July. Food was great. S’mores were delicious. People were friendly.

Wow! We came up for a wedding and loved everything about it. The staff was awesome, the food was good and the views were amazing! Highly recommend coming up in the summer or winter ( ski resort, too). Looking for a destination wedding. Look no further!! This is your place.

If you have an upcoming reservation to stay here, I would recommend cancelling. While the lake views are nice from the beach club, the overall experience is not worth your time or money! The first room we received (little belle) had what looked like drywall in the jacuzzi, a broken shelf & a lived in look (overall not clean). They offered us a new room in the same area which was cleaner, but later that night we discovered we didn’t have hot water. We called, they said they would provide an update & then they weren’t responsive so we drove up to the welcome center to get the matter resolved. They moved us to stony bridge & the room was very lived in. Furniture had tons of knicks, walls looked like they had patching or a poor paint job & overall the cabin feel needed some upgrading. So far, the staff has been nice, but very little is open. They should have broadcasted that “off season” began immediately after Labor Day & they certainly shouldn’t be charging $400/night given the conditions of the rooms & the lack of open amenities. We plan to connect with management prior to our departure to discuss how this nightmare of an anniversary trip can be discounted or refunded to some degree. Pictures are from our third room.

Not the experience we were hoping for. Was looking forward to a relaxing weekend before the stress of the holidays since I am a shop owner. I booked a suite in the Inn with a nice view of the lake and a fireplace. Was told that they had to move us out of the Inn because the Inn had no power. Ok. I would expect a comparable room or even better. Ended up in Stoneybrook on the first floor so no lake view - in a room whose fireplace didn’t work. Multiple calls to the desk, someone finally came to fix it and it worked for less than 20 minutes. Then, nothing. I would have been better off renting a private condo or home. Also, it is almost impossible to navigate at night since the lighting is so bad. The fact that management does not seem to respond to the reviews makes me think that they really don’t care.

We came to the homestead for our anniversary, driving up the place is gorgeous! Then we got to the parking and it was cute, but little confusing to find your way. We stayed in little Belle, and can say it was not worth the price point. Musty smell, chipped paint, poorly executed light holes, fruit flies everywhere, nothing luxury about the place but the cost is for a luxury stay. The little store has extremely overpriced items, but the worker was very sweet. Michigan is known for their cherries, ordered a cherry old fashion at the bar, the bartender poored just some maraschino cherries in an old fashion, it cracked me up. Walking around the property you are met with little signs about being kind and please do not yell at staff, which leads me to believe others are also less than impressed with the experience you are paying for. The location is incredible but seems like they need to close down, update the place, and start over. Oh and the upstairs neighbors who were partying with loud music until 1 30 am, were really the cherry on top. They had a wedding that weekend and the tables they used the night before were still full of bottles cups trash all over the place as we were leaving the next morning. Leaving, the staff member didn't even ask how our stay was, which made me feel like she is used to being scolded about the crummy experiences and didn't even want to ask.

It is almost impossible to find current information about skiing, snow conditions - they do not update their website or social media. Rooms are okay, furniture is dated, towels are horrible, tvs are outdated, HVAC systems are spotty at best! Service is stretched to its absolute limits, more than likely due to staff shortages, but for the prices they charge - unacceptable. Restaurants change hours or close without warning. Hard to get a straight answer from anyone when you ask. The location is amazing! When it first opened the Homestead was the place to be...not so much anymore.

The perfect dog-friendly stay along the beautiful Lake Michigan. My husband and I had a wonderful weekend getaway at the Homestead over the weekend with our two golden retrievers. We were thankful to learn there were specific dog friendly rooms/areas available as we love to travel with our pups. The grounds of the Homestead have something for everyone. Whether you are looking to relax and curl up with a book by the water or tranquil pond, or adventure with paddleboarding or tennis, you will never be bored. We loved Whiskers in the evening for food and drinks by the fire which also had a live music playing on Saturday evening. Watching the sunset on the beach was also a favorite. The beach is not dog friendly, which is okay, seeing the Homestead does a great job in making sure this property is well loved for everyone whether you're a dog person or not. Location is right in the heart of Glen Arbor which means only a short drive down the road to Downtown Glen Arbor, Sleeping Bear Dunes, and wineries along the peninsula. We hope to visit again in the winter and come back again for a special trip every year after that. Thank you Homestead!

Great place to stop and stretch your legs, sit down, and take in the scenery. There is even a bathroom.
