Taos Historic Inn is super charming and really good value given location and quality. We had a corner room way in the back of one of the buildings, and while the beds, bathroom, and amenities were great, the room itself was a little dark. I think that was specific to this room as many others appeared to have large front wall windows, but it's worth asking about if given the choice of multiple rooms. Parking is convenient and tucked away so as not to be right on the street. You can walk to literally all of downtown Taos from the hotel, with very few destinations taking more than 10 minutes to walk to. I think when we stay again, we would try to get a second story room just for the light and the views. The newly renovated library/lounge space in the main building was super cozy, and they had decent coffee there ready to go early in the morning. The bar and restaurant was closed the night we stayed unfortunately; we were really hoping to try that. Overall, I definitely recommend it. You get historic, high quality lodging right in the middle of downtown Taos!

There are fantastic things about the Taos Inn and a few that aren’t great. The beds. The beds are absolutely miserable. We were exhausted during our 4 day stay in Taos because the beds are metal springs with a thin cotton covering. We woke up all night and we were sore the next morning. As much as we enjoyed the property and the location, I don’t think we could stay here again. I talked to the manager and he was so kind. He offered to change our room and we went to two, the beds were the same. If you need to keep something cold- no mini fridge. No microwave, no coffee pot. They have coffee in the main building. Our room had a nice corner fireplace. The good- the hotel is in a great location for shopping, exploring and heading to restaurants. They have little courtyards all over with tables and chairs- great for relaxing or traveling with your dogs. We’ve been to Taos many times and we’ve driven by the patio that faces the main Street but the patio was closed which was a bummer because the weather was perfect patio weather. Parking was easy. The staff were all fantastic. The rooms were cozy. They have live music every night in the bar/restaurant area. The food was good. I’d be singing the highest praise, if not for those beds.

Was expecting the usual Taos vibe, charm and coziness (I've stayed there many times since the 90's) but found a hollow, forgotten-by-time feeling instead. Dirty entrance, shabby courtyards, threadbare furniture, beds on a slant that sends the blood to one's head (tried reversing but it didn't help) a heater that rumbled and toasted (nay, fried) the person on that side of the bed, blinds with broken slats, unraveling carpet, glaring light bulbs to accent the dreariness, making it clear that hard times have hit, and I'm so sorry to see it. On the plus side, the kiva fireplace worked, the lobby entertainment and service was stellar, and dinner was good. We are not demanding guests...and even so, are disappointed in the accommodations.

We love staying in historic hotels & the Historic Taos Inn did not disappoint! Starting with the communications from the concierge, Mac, to the day we left, we were made to feel welcome & happy we stayed there. Our room was perfect! Located in a perfect place to walk to restaurants, stores & museums, we loved it! The bar area & restaurant were fun & the food was delicious. Divine, the hostess, was friendly & welcoming in Doc Martin’s. Three days were not enough, we will be back! Thanks, Mac, you’re the best of the best! Cheers!

Really cute central hotel with a great restaurant and bar. Very quiet rooms with comfy beds. Stretching to find something to complain about cause it was actually really nice! - I wasn't a huge fan of the soaps and the shower control was confusing but thats just personal preference. Would recommend and revisit!

This is a wonderful hotel with tons of character. But if you'd like to spend the evening in and eat at the Doc Martin restaurant, be sure you add a dinner reservation to your hotel one. We thought we'd just walk down to the empty restraurant and have a romantic evening, just to be told by the self-absorbed hostess that there would be a 45 minute wait for those without reservations as they were short staffed. We could sit out in the lobby and "enjoy" the very loud, live music and be served there, but we couldn't sit in the largely empty restaurant unless we had reservations. I know. This was our own unique experience. The hotel is wonderful. Just be sure to plan accordingly.

We love Taos, we love Taos Inn, and now we love Charlie who saved the day upon check in! There was a mix up with our reservation due to a third party booking site so there were a few tense moments when we checked in at the front desk after a long day of travelling but Charlie’s excellent customer service and kindness saved the day. He sorted everything out and gave a gorgeous room that we have truly been enjoying! Thanks Charlie! Big shout out to ALL the amazing hardworking staff who really put in the effort with smiles and kindness to make guests feel welcome and taken care of - great team.

This was our 4th or 5th visit to the Historic Taos Inn, the first being in 1992. We have always had lovely stays, but this one nearly caused my husband a trip to the hospital. We had asked for adjoining rooms, and my mother was given the room right next to us, which was perfect. The only problem with our room (203) was that the ceiling was very low in places, and my husband is 6"1" He bumped his head once or twice on a beam in the sitting room area, and at least once at the entryway to our bathroom, despite a "Watch Your Head" sign as one enters. ||My husband got up in the night to use the bathroom, and ducked his head as he went to step in, but didn't duck down far enough, and hit the top of his head so hard that he fell backward onto the floor. Fortunately, he only passed out for a couple of seconds, and I was able to administer a bag of ice to his head as he lay there. Despite his head being sore for a few days, my husband fortunately didn't have a severe injury. ||I'm sure many others have hit their heads in this room, perhaps some as hard as my husband had. A "Watch Your Head" sign is useless if there is no nightlight in the room. The best fix to this problem would be to cut out the low part of the bathroom entryway and increase the height about 6 inches. The same should be done for the low ceiling beam in the sitting area of the room. ||The rest of our stay was fine, and we enjoyed a cocktail in The Adobe Bar. We would definitely come again but will request not to be assigned a room with these dangerously low ceiling areas.
