My wife and I stayed at the Hemingway and loved it. First, we slept GREAT! We even napped. Second, the convenience to downtown Ocean Springs and all the restaurants and things to do was perfect. And going home from our night out was real nice. When you wake up, grab your walking shoes to the beach to view beautiful homes and water. We will be back.

The room was beautiful and very clean. My four star review only comes from two things: 1. I would’ve much preferred a regular coffee maker or a Keurig machine over the French press. The instructions were easy to follow, but I wasn’t impressed with the coffee it made. I was able to find some great options at a local coffee shop around the corner, though, at The French Kiss pastry shop. 2. We stayed in the Martha. After arriving at the room, I was disappointed to realize it only had one bed. I think the website was a little confusing and I was under the impression I had. Two beds. Instead, there is a futon type couch and a king bed in a back room. The trip was me, my mom, my sister-in-law, and my niece. Although three of us fit in the bed and one slept in the futon, it wasn’t ideal. I regret not calling and making sure I had a large enough room, but I would’ve liked for the website to warn me after saying it was a total of 4 people. I think clearer information would be very helpful there. Many people complained about the train. It was made very clear on the site that the building is directly across from tracks. None of us were bothered by it at all and slept like babies. They have a wind machine and earplugs available for guests, too. People have to realize that many hotels were originally built in these locations because that’s where people were getting off the train when they traveled. Personally, I thought it added to the charm. The location in relation to downtown couldn’t be much better. You walk outside and you are there admits lovely oak trees and quaint local shops. I can’t wait to return and soak up more of the local town.

Stayed two nights in the Pauline room at the Hemingway property. Great communication from the folks via texts and emails! Set up my own four digit code and used it to access the property and our room. Perfect! ||This Inn has two sets of rooms, The Hemingway is on the northern end of Washington close to the Visitor Center and then a couple more rooms are further south a couple of blocks more in the center of town. The Hemingway rooms are also closer to the train that passes by, and I have to tell you that honestly as you might get woken up when a train passes, blasting the horn. Not terrible, but wanted you to know. ||The Hemingway is located in a 100+ year old bank historical building and it has been beautifully restored. Parking is available along the street with easy access. Easy to walk to all things within Ocean Springs too. Room is set up with a mini fridge and microwave and plates, utensils etc. The Pauline room is small but comfortable. Very nicely done bathroom and shower.

We loved the property! Will definitively make a return visit. We made our initial reservation at The Inn but ended up staying in The Hadley Suite @ The Hemingway. Beautiful suite, very well appointed. The train actually was kind of nostalgic, didn’t bother us at all. Two issues, the shower leaked onto the wood floors, we used towels to try to mitigate any damage to the floors. Secondly, the TV in the living area was difficult to connect to the internet. We had to manually connect every time we turned on the TV. We still give the property 5 Stars. Every staff member we interacted with was very friendly and extremely helpful. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Hope to see you again soon!

We stayed two nights in one of the suites at the Hemingway in Ocean Springs. The rooms were lovely but overlooked the main street in Ocean Springs, one hundred feet from the rail tracks. The white noise machine and earplugs should have been a clue, but it was incredibly noisy at night. Freight trains barreled thru early AM blasting their horns to clear the tracks. And monster trucks starting up at 1:30 in AM shook the building, blasting thru the ear plugs. Sad to say, but the noise destroyed our sleep.|Will not stay here again.

Pros: |-location, location, location: we wanted to avoid chain hotels and casinos. Searching Google, looked at the most expensive place available that night and it looked perfect- and it wasn’t outrageously expensive. We did not know about the town of Ocean Springs but it is what I always look for when traveling and rarely find: a charming place with unique shops and restaurants. I loved it!! The Hemingway is right in the heart of it all.|- the room was nicely decorated and comfortable….with a notable exception (see below)|Cons:|- nothing I read about the place mentioned the big flight of stairs up to the rooms, and there is NO elevator. My husband and I are both seniors and had a large suitcase. Need I say more?|- but the worst part was the discovery that the shower only had hot water, very hot water. Unfortunately I soaped up as it started to heat and ended having to rinse my hair in the sink. Never experienced that before.|- the thermostat in the room did not respond to our efforts to change the temp|- the tea kettle leaked|- the front door was unlocked all night despite our having reported the problem ||It’s an interesting business model. Several small properties with rooms only. No staff or reception. You let yourself in via a code and communicate with someone via text. Thus, an unlocked entrance was a concern.||If they can fix the problems it’ll be five stars.

Very cute place and convenient to everything in downtown Ocean Springs. Very nice renovated bank building. Love the brick interior look with the modern meets historic. However, the windows are thin, as you loudly hear the trains come by frequently all night long. Train Horns, Street Traffic, etc... Wish there were a few more places like drawers, larger bedside tables and room on the vanity, but we were able to work around that fairly easily. The Hemingway does not offer breakfast. We read the website wrong, as it's The Inns of Ocean Springs that offer that. However, there are plenty of places downtown to meet that need. This is priced as luxury and it appears luxury. Just needs a few tweaks to make it fully luxury. If they fixed the train noise, that would solve most of my concerns.

The weekend experience in Ocean Springs was awesome, the room mostly met our needs. The room location was good since it was in the center of Ocean Springs. The difference between 3-star service and 5-star service was due to the fact we did not have hot water to the shower. There was hot water to the vanity which was odd. I did report the issue, late Saturday afternoon but nothing was repaired. I like my hot showers. Check-in and check -out was great.
