The Hawthorne Inn & Conference Center - Hotel in Winston-Salem - 420 High St, USA

We were in town for a family reunion and had never stayed here before. Every member of the staff that we encountered was very courteous and helpful. The rooms were all very clean and properly stocked, and the beds were amongst the most comfort I’ve experienced in ANY hotel. This is an older hotel that seemed to have been recently refurbished. It’s conveniently located to downtown with some breakfast/coffee/dining choices right around the corner. We were all very pleased with our stay and plan to return next year!

This was not the worst place I’ve stayed, but I wouldn’t recommend it. I booked online with my business card & then they forced me to show it to them in person, which wasn’t possible bc I don’t travel with my CC, just keep on Apple Pay to avoid theft- so I had to pay with my debit. Next, the room hallways reeked of cigarette smoke even though it was a smoke free hotel. The front desk man was kind & moved me to a bigger room on a different floor & then offered free breakfast. The breakfast quality was mediocre & not worth the extra payment - just go find somewhere cute in town. Dull building

This hotel and staff were life savers. We drove in from Ohio and needed a last minute room. Fred at the front desk took his time and made sure he got us a good room at a good rate. He was insanely polite and accommodating. I could write paragraphs on how he made our stay at the Hawthorne completely worth it and amazing. The rooms were clean, the pool is also very clean and outdoors. All around an amazing stay.

Absolutely loved this hotel, a nice hotel near the downtown Winston Salem area. All staff members from the front desk, to the restaurant and housekeeping were very friendly and accommodating. A wonderful stay for family. My family and i stayed here in a 1 bedroom Suite. The suites were so spacious and had an actual separation from the bedroom to the living room that also had a sofa bed. Breakfast is for purchase but was very good! We were also able to enjoy the pool, great for kids and adults. The pool was huge and there were also chairs and tables out on the patio that you were able to relax on as well. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will be staying here anytime to be near the downtown area but not in the center. Also they have free parking!! Can’t wait to come back with my family and stay again!!!

Hawthorne Inn: Hidden Gem in Winston-Salem The Hawthorne Inn and Conference Center is a steal for the price. It's a hidden gem in Winston-Salem that deserves more recognition. Also Super Clean and great customer service!

I will not be returning, my stay was WAY below satisfactory. The following is for the owner, and no one else. For it is not their fault. We had to move to 3 different rooms to find one that had a working A/C, and the room that we ended up with the A/C only slightly worked. And smelled of cigarettes even though it was a non-smoker room. Then there was the breakfast, which I had to pay extra for. A "buffet" is not two half trays of eggs and sausage. If you are going to skimp out on that then just include it in the room charge. Then the room keys, I was made aware that the keys are sensitive to electronics, so I made sure to keep them away from everything as best I could, they worked all night, however once the morning hit none of our keys worked, and we were not the only ones. I didn't see a single person who's room keys were working that morning. I will be surprised if I see you still in business in a year.

Highly recommend. Not luxury but Safe, clean , quiet and comfortable stay in downtown Winston, walking distance to the fun areas. For about 25% less than similar corporate chain hotels in the same area. All I could ever ask for and maybe better. Free parking, free continental breakfast til 930 am (I think), hotel also has a good selection of simple snacks and drinks (incl wine/beer) available for purchase in lobby. There is an outdoor pool available in summer. Only negative was that, despite having a balcony, there was no openable window in my room. My room was a bit warm, even thought it was cool outside. Would have preferred to be able to open the window and enjoy fresh air instead of running the AC. And the AC was very loud, would not have been possible to sleep with it on. Would book again happily

There is no AC in this motel. Only a fan on the thermostat. Hot, hot, 🔥 . We had to go buy fans.. it was dirty, dryer didn't work, coffee maker had no where to put the coffee bag because it was missing. And why a balcony if it's locked. And no my name is not registered, I was with my daughter. We called about the AC, Noone ever came.
