Planned on coming to New Bern to celebrate my wife's birthday and wanted to make it special. Heard about all the work that took place to turn the Harvey Mansion into the boutique Hotel. We'll let me tell you how amazing the new Hotel is. The outside is beautiful. The inside is amazing. Paintings are on walls throughout depicting life near the sea and the history of New Bern, NC.Plenty of space inside to unwind and relax. Our King/Balcony room was well appointed and the bathroom was most appealing. Our balcony did have water view, albeit small. We had a wonderful evening in New Bern dining on great food with some good friends. Retiring for the night in our room at The Harvey was the frosting on the cake! I would recommend it highly!
We highly recommend this establishment. It has obviously been restored and appointed to the highest standards- the furnishings and art are not fussy but beautifully coordinated. Comfort and relaxation are themes in the rooms- ours was 3rd floor which afforded a nice river view. (And helped burn off a few calories from meals.) The bedding was excellent with comfortable reading chairs as well (a huge plus in my “book”.) there is an extra large bathroom w/a rain shower. Very walkable location. Finally very responsive hosts. I had to text a question and received a response immediately. Oh and not related, but take the historic trolley tour: They even mention The Harvey House on the route.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Harvey! It was the perfect quiet getaway right in the middle of our favorite town. I would highly recommend it whether you are visiting New Bern, or if you just need a restful night away from the hustle and bustle of your busy life.
The Harvey is the cutest little hotel! I loved the “check in” process and how easy everything was. The hotel and the room was absolutely gorgeous. I think this was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in at any hotel. The staff is very quick to respond with any questions by sending a simple text message. I cannot wait to come back!

I enjoyed staying at this beautiful hotel during the visit to charming New Bern. There is no check-in counter, but it’s actually nice to just walk in and go to your room right away. The central location makes it so easy to walk to different restaurants, places of interest, even a farmer’s market, and the water-front. There is also free parking. The interior is stunning. Everything is new and impeccably clean. The vanity items are of wonderful quality and all fixtures and furniture make you feel like you are in a middle of an expensive house. The designers certainly chose everything with care! Even the stairs carpeting is lush and plush making steps quiet. I will certainly stay there again, the only thing is that if you are a light-sleeper, bring ear-plugs. This is because to preserve the history of the building, renovators kept original windows that are not sound-proof. It was truly a treat to stay at this beautifully restored space!
The decor of The Harvey is nothing short of 5 Stars. The method of entering the hotel and your room is as easy as it can be; however, there is no front desk or anyone at the hotel to assist you. This said, the response to my emails was both prompt and helpful, so I guess the absence of a living person on premises does not present too much of an issue. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend The Harvey for the discerning traveler to New Bern, NC!
This e-boutique hotel has been beautifully appointed. The detail to preserving the history of the building is outstanding. The linens and towels are very high quality and the bed was also very comfortable. Management communicates via email to confirm reservation and also provided instructions on entry and room code. The reason for my 4 stars are the following: hotel parking is dedicated to the hotel guests, 1 vehicle per guest room. With there being 12 parking spots, I observed the guests next to us having 2 vehicles and also non-guests using the parking lot. After returning back from dinner, there were no spots available, I emailed the hotel regarding this and was never contacted back. After waiting some time, a car departed and we were able to secure that spot. I found the parking lot to be dimly lit and there’s a vacant lot without lighting behind it. Last, the shower stall in the balcony room was tight with limited space. I found the shampoo/conditioner/shower gel holder takes up too much space in the shower. Otherwise, it was a nice visit in downtown New Bern. All the best!
I absolutely loved my stay at The Harvey. This hotel is immaculate, beautifully decorated and is in a great location for exploring downtown New Bern. I had everything I needed and the beds are so comfortable!!! The response time from management was quick and I had no issues with my stay. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel!
