One of the most incredible dining experiences I've had in a very long time! Everything from the ambiance, to the service, to the food is excellent. The Hancock Inn and Fox Tavern feel like something out of a Currier and Ives print, almost a New England fairy tale. The care and preservation of this beautiful place is clear, while still maintaining the Inn and Tavern's history and charm. The staff clearly love what they do, and take immense pride in their work and providing their guests and patrons with the absolute best food and accommodations while still holding true to many of the classic New England traditions. I felt cared for in a way here that reminded me of the way my mother (a former Inn keeper herself) would create a special meal for me. We called ahead to make reservations and asked if they would be able to accommodate my food allergies and they happily obliged. And $45 prefix for three courses is a steal considering the caliber of food and service. I had one of the best salads in many years here, my stuffed squash entree was sensational, and the pecan pie was like something out of a dream. The Hancock Inn and Fox Tavern are truly special and I cannot wait to return!

This was our first time at the Hancock Inn--it was suggested we try it on the advice of friends who have been many times. We were not disappointed and we will certainly be back! We stayed in the Bell Tower which was spacious, comfortable and quiet--in fact, we stayed New Years Eve and were wondering what the noise level would be like but it really was very quiet. We enjoyed the deep jetted tub and the canopy bed along with the nice view of the courtyard. After spending some time in the bar during happy hour, we quickly learned that Ignacio is a fun, friendly bartender with a lot of interesting stories--and he makes amazing drinks! Our dinner was delicious--I had the lamb and my husband had the cod (we both had the pistachio creme brulee) as was breakfast (made to order with many selections). I especially loved the cozy, colonial feel of the place and the reading nook at the top of the stairs. Oh...and the resident adorable senior golden retriever (Potter) who loves affection was a special touch. :) Additionally, there is a really neat market across the street where you can support local. We will definitely be back!

Great overnight for Valentines weekend! Called last minute on Friday for a Saturday night stay to have champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in the room and it was done. The inn itself is very nice with multiple levels with couches and chairs and Keurig coffee makers. The room we stayed in was the John Freeman Eaton room and was perfect. Some of the doors were open on the other rooms as well and they all looked really nice. The Fox tavern is a cozy little place with a small bar and 5 stools as well as a more quiet dining room. Three course dinner was excellent as well as the cocktails and wine list. Marcia the innkeeper was wonderful and hospitable. HIGHLY recommend!!

We really enjoyed our stay here! We stayed 3 nights. The owners and staff are so nice and the breakfasts were excellent. We had dinner one night in the Fox Tavern and it was delicious. The suite was very comfortable, although it is an old building and the floors creak. But that is part of the charm! There is very good Wi-Fi and a DVD collection to browse. Lovely common rooms with some games and magazines available. And lots of books to read. This Inn was a destination for us. There's not much in Hancock itself but there are several villages (including Keene and Peterborough) to explore - art galleries, shops and dining options. If you hike, this is the perfect place to make your home base. We hiked all day and had a good meal and good night sleep afterward. The next day we did the art galleries and shopped. We will definitely be going back next year.

What a beautiful and great place to stay!! I will admit this was my first time ever staying at an Inn and wonder why I didn't do it sooner! The amenities were plentiful, such as Coffee stations on each floor so guest can have their morning coffee and relax either in your rooms or in the pretty sitting areas. Next, enjoy a full breakfast in the downstairs dining area overlooking the court yard! So relaxing and beautiful. Potter is the Inn keepers dog and loves having guest visit his home. ||Stayed one night and planning on going back to Hancock Inn only this time for a longer stay! I highly recommend it!

Stayed at the Hancock Inn briefly during our ski trip to Crotched Mountain - it was a great experience and I highly recommend staying here! It was very close to the mountain, about 15 minutes away. Within the inn & the surrounding area, you really felt that old New England town feel - very quaint and cozy. Without sacrificing any of the modern amenities, either - we had all we needed with a nice hot shower, TV, coffee machines, etc. What puts it over the top is their complimentary menu breakfast and great hospitality, per our host Rhonda. Great find!

Wonderful and relaxing place to stay. The rooms are beautiful and each so unique and special. Staff is beyond friendly and welcoming. The food is wonderful and the Fox Tavern was a great place to have cocktails. The breakfast was amazing!. We will most definitely look forward to another visit.

This is a wonderful, old fashioned New England Inn with charm and history to spare. The rooms are lovely; big canopy bed, nice pillows and a soaker tub in the bathroom. Not “fancy” but very nice. The hallways are filled with wonderful old art and tapestry and objects from the historical era. The breakfast offered in the morning is terrific by the way. Warmly and comfortably run by the Inn’s owners who are on premises and aided by their trusty, mellow old Golden Retriever Potter. Enjoy!
