I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. I didn't really know what to expect having never stayed in a hostel before, but the vibe here was amazing, as were the people, staff and fellow travelers. It has a very homely feel. Art decorated walls, and not picture art, hand drawn/painted are (I think they'll let you add to it.) Oh, and a diningroom chalkboard and a white walled bathroom where you can autograph the walls. Different and cute. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. The restaurants nearby are amazing, the food choices are as diverse as the neighborhood. There are plenty of grocers, retail, and convenient stores nearby.
This hostel is perfect if you're looking for a warm, homey feel! Staff was kind and welcoming! The hostel itself is situated in a great neighborhood with lots of awesome restaurants, and bars—super walkable.
Bonus points for the sweet art covering the walls inside :)
My only complaint: people talking, using the kitchen, and the TV in the commons area passed 11pm on a weekday.
I’ve stayed in many homes turned into hostels across the US and they all have this issue. I hope it’s something this hostel can work on.
If I ever come back to Detroit, I’ll try the other hostel before staying here again.
Good value, decent location couple miles away from downtown. Clean. Old building but that’s all of Detroit. Free street parking. No issues parking coming back at 9pm.
Great value for your money when you are traveling on a budget.
Staff are super friendly and accommodating. :)
It’s great that they have private rooms available.
Nice and clean. Quiet. Very helpful, friendly staff. I plan to return. Had to park in a municipal parking lot a block away as street parking was full, but not a big deal.
Stayed here last weekend to go to a hockey game and concert. Owner (can't remember his name but he looked like my buddy Nick, so you know he's solid 🤙) was super outgoing and beyond hospitable. Kendrick was mainly on hand and took excellent care and very easy to get along with. The neighbourhood is really neat and pretty Polish and a 10 minute drive from downtown. Had a lot more fun there than downtown. Best value and experience I've had at a hostel. Will definitely return in the future!
It served my purposes which was to lay my head on a pillow and sleep. I didn't have any fresh towels in my room or even a comforter on my bed. The building is pretty old and my room showed its age. It was clean and it had an air conditioner in it so that's a big plus. I stayed at a hostel in Washington DC before and this one was much better in my opinion. It's honestly an affordable option to sleep and you're not too far from downtown Detroit. Like a 10 minute drive. Good luck with street parking as it can be crowded on Holmes Street. The side walks are littered with trash and lawn care is basically non existent within the entire neighborhood. So it can be perceived as an eye sore to some. Would I stay here again? Wouldn't completely rule it out, but it's not a high priority.

Just opened so theyâre still working on the menu and store but itâs a great cafe. My friends come here all the time. Theyâre very genuine people and the drinks/sweets are amazing for the price. Not too pricey and the quality is great! Definitel
John came here and loved it! I had a tiny wine with a teeny plum. What a delight! So many little guys in so many little things. I canât believe it! If I could give them 7 stars I would!

New favorite coffee shop!!! Very casually academia, in an old building and has been here for a few decades. The atmosphere here is wonderful, and they have plenty of tasty options from Italian sodas, pastries, muffins, and lunch options from pop and
We found this place on Uber Eats. Surprisingly, they had a lot of BOGOS. We tried the wings, onion rings and chicken shawarma pitas. All of it was impressive. So delicious. We will eat here again.
Attended Everything is Terrible Kidz Club yesterday. Planet Ant was a perfect venue. Intimate with great sound. Perfect for performances like yesterdayâs. The attached bar has very affordable drinks available. Some of the beer was only $3.
