Very impressive collection of wax museum art and artifacts from all Louisiana plantations along with early settlers and past wars that made Louisiana what it is today. My wife and I toured the museum during a Bed & Breakfast get-away at the Houmas House Inn and Gardens, which we highly recommend since it's absolutely beautiful. My only complaint with the museum is the price is a bit on the high end, and it should have been included with the cost of the stay at the Inn (in my opinion). That's the only reason I give it 4 stars. Outside of that, the museum itself is very impressive and well done!

You could spend an entire day in the museum alone, there is so much to see and learn. Great collection of the South's history. We got the $55 package (adult) that included the Museum, The Houmas House and the Grounds. You can purchase tickets seperately if you dont want to do all the tours. The Museum and the Grounds are Self Guided Tours. The Houmas House is a Guided tour by someone dressed in period clothing. They tours start every half hour. Our Guide was Ruby and she was very knowledgeable of the homes history.

I think this is a wonderful museum. It gives the timeline of the settlement of the Mississippi River in Louisiana. The wax figures are in need of some love and attention, but they were moved here from the Conti Wax Museum that was in the French Quarter in New Orleans and I am glad they are in a place with more funding and foot traffic to Garner more attention.

This museum is first class! If you are interested in Louisiana history, you will want to visit. Various mannequins throughout the museum help to make the scenes seem more realistic.

Wow! If you haven't been to the Houmas House lately I suggest you go back soon! What a beautiful addition! I had lunch with no wait. Kind of pricy but well worth it. I was thinking of seeing the grounds for some destress at lunch but was pleasantly surprised at seeing a part of the new exhibit getting to the Cafe!

A beautiful museum. Gives you an insight into the history of Louisiana and settlements along the Mississippi river. The wax mannequins make the scenes more realistic.

We have been to Houmas House several times and this time we were bringing my brother, who had never been. The museum has been added since we were here last. We spent about 3 hours going through it. The displays were outstanding. My only complaint would be that some items have little or no information about them & others have so much, you couldn't get through the museum in 3 days if you read it all. We thoroughly enjoyed it, but figured out early that we had to just skim the information on much of it or we wouldn't get to see it all before they closed, and it was extra frustrating to have so MUCH information on one item and then none on another. I would recommend they go back through and try to balance these out. It would create a much more enjoyable experience for visitors as this truly is a wonderful collection of items.
