Unique spot that's part of the freedom trail documenting where important debates about the future of the city and the country were taking place. Good educational placards showing the history and plenty of seating to relax and recharge with a break.
Faneuil Hall is a historic building that has served Boston as a marketplace and meeting hall since 1742. There are several attractions that are worth seeing at Faneuil Hall as part of your Freedom Tail sightseeing.
Outside Faneuil Hall, you will see a nice statue of American patriot Samuel Adams. On the ground floor, within the building, there is a gift shop, coffee shop, food vendors and National Parks Visitor Centre desk if you need information about tours or area National Parks.
The upstairs 2nd floor meeting room is a very nice place to visit. A ranger was giving a quick tour while we were there, providing historic accounts of important events that occurred here. That was very nice to hear. We also enjoyed the paintings and busts which adorned the room.
The 3rd floor is used by the Ancient and Honourable Artillery Company of Massachusetts, the longest standing military organisation in the United States. They have a collection of historical military arms, items and member information that makes this an interesting place to visit for anyone with interest in military history.
Behind the Faneuil Hall, you will find the three long colonnades which make up the Faneuil Hall marketplace. Quincy Market, the centre colonnade, is where you find numerous food vendors, bars and restaurants. This is a great stop for lunch or a food and drink break if you are needing a break from your Freedom Trail sightseeing endeavours.
Overall, we quite enjoyed spending time at the Faneuil Hall building and marketplace. Including lunch, you can easily spend 1.5 to 2 hours here. However, if you are in a hurry, you can do a quick walk through and see all in 20-30 minutes.
Beautiful. Majestic. Moving. Historic. It was for the ceremony for the swearing in of new attorneys. Quite an honor to be part of history.
Great place to check out if you are in the history and the American Revolution!
National park guides do a free presentation that can't be missed. I'm so glade I took the time to sit down, listen and learn. Definitely recommend it and Thankyou for a great job everyone does.
The Great Hall was just that. The history of it is very interesting. If tjose were the original chairs they sat in - oh no. Uncomfortable. But a beautiful place.
The Christmas decorations were very beautiful.
Awesome stop along the freedom trail. Very lively square and area.
