The Graylyn Estate - Featured Reviews (506)
I heard about the Graylyn Estate via an influencer on Instagram and was immediately interested. The hotel was a unique experience and not just a typical hotel. The staff were all very professional and friendly. The history was so vibrant and the space so elegant and inviting. The grounds were amazing to explore and the free ice cream was a fun treat. We stayed in a historic room which was beautifully decorated. The Reynolda Museum was a 15 minute walk away and the Bobby Boy Bakery was a 5 minute drive. Highly recommend both experiences too. It was a relaxing place to visit which combined historical landmarks with charming places to explore.
My 11 year old son stated "It's like staying at Hogwarts!" This is a great compliment coming from a huge Harry Potter fan. The Graylyn Estate is a magical place to stay with kids and see the world through their eyes. My three boys absolutely love this place, it never gets old and they always find something new and exciting on every trip. The third floor manor rooms are beautiful, spacious and definitely unique from any other hotels at which we've stayed.
This is a very nice Boutique hotel. However you're paying boutique hotel prices. The bar on this site is for guests only. Which comes across as a nice speakeasy. The food that I had was for a conference and was just okay. However many of the guests that I was eating with thought the food was superb. The hotel does come with a wide variety of amenities like bikes to rent and a small but sufficient workout room. The actual location for the hotel is really nice if you want to be in Winston-Salem and parking isn't no additional charge.
Went here for a girl’s weekend and it was beyond beautiful! Very impressive grounds. The property itself was immaculate. The service was unmatched - which we all know is increasingly difficult to find these days. We appreciated the fact that there was always staff walking around/available to help you. When we visited, all the corridors in the home were open so you were able to walk around and look at all the common rooms, and even sit down for food/drinks in a variety of ornate, quiet, vast rooms. Reminded me of the Biltmore Estate but the difference was that you could actually “touch” and “live” in the rich history of the property. Just beautiful. We also spent a couple hours at the pool which was nice but nothing all that impressive. We were just glad they had an outdoor pool on property which isn’t commonplace in North Carolina. No complaints there, just very basic.
Only complaint is that there seems to be a change in management over the restaurant, particularly the dinner service. Try to make a reservation if possible as the operation is small and walk-ins seem difficult to accommodate. Otherwise, an amazing experience and we will be back in a few months! Can’t stress enough have breathtaking the grounds were.
The rooms are lovely. The staff is stellar. 6 star staff all the way. The afternoon lemonade and butterscotch cookies were delicious. And the ice cream selection was top shelf. The way they took care of us made it such a special time. Felt honored to have stayed here. Love It and HIGHLY recommend.
One of the most unique and charming hotels we've been to in the US. It is the most romantic place and a great place to unplug disconnect and enjoy slow life. Every room in this hotel is different, and there are multiple buildings with the it's own character. Definitely would return many times! Last, but not the least - staff there is incredible!
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and are from Winston-Salem. We wanted to do something special without having to leave town. Graylyn was such a great choice! Our room was beautiful, service impeccable and food delicious! We loved every moment of our stay.
The Graylyn Estate in Winston-Salem has beautiful grounds and friendly staff, but our experience was a bit mixed. The rooms were outdated, and the check-in process was painfully slow and complicated. Despite requesting proximity, and the hotel being near empty, our kids were placed in a room far from ours. We did enjoy their free lemonade and ice cream experience. The grounds are superb for long walks and they are a pet friendly hotel. Overall, our stay had more lows than highs.
Couldn't have gone any more smoothly. The 100% digital check-in and building access was wonderful. Place has a great vibe. My particular apartment was in a retro-fitted 1928 building. Nicely appointed, awesome bed, but also had exposed painted concre
