The Grand Hacienda Luxury Inn with Gourmet Breakfast - Inn in Youngsville - Abiquiu Lake, 5 Los Ojos Dr., USA

I am so grateful that Carolyn and Tom built this magical refuge and opened it as a Bed and Breakfast to share its magic with their guests. The hacienda’s mesa top location is staggeringly beautiful, with 360 degree views of Ghost Ranch, Cerro Pedernal, and Abiquiu Lake. I stayed in the Rio Chama suite and was greeted every morning with a stunning sunrise over the lake, but every single suite on the property has fabulous views. ||Work has been incredibly stressful recently, and I was looking for a refuge to help me slow down and calm my nerves. I couldn’t have chosen a more healing place. Every detail has been thoughtfully curated—from the gentle lighting in the courtyard to the soothing fountains to the evocative rocks and branches across the property. I loved hearing the story of how Tom and Carolyn found this land and how they designed every single element with intention.||This weekend was supposed to be a reunion with a dear friend, but she ended up getting Covid at the last minute. Carolyn’s wise suggestions for solo adventures made the weekend both fun and rejuvenating despite being on my own. I loved my morning hike at Plaza Blanca and my afternoon horseback ride at Ghost Ranch. At the end of a day of adventuring, it was a joy to return to the haicenda’s great room for tea and sweets in front of the kiva fireplace, while poring over the amazing selection of O’Keefe books in their collection. Night time soaks in the hot tub were magical, listening to the wildlife, while searching for the Milky Way above. ||I had two breakfasts and two dinners at the hacienda, and every meal was exquisite. I was blown away when I learned that Carolyn and Tom immersed themselves in professional cooking classes in preparation for opening the bed and breakfast. Every course was a delight, made all the more special with fresh herbs from their greenhouse, locally sourced eggs and honey, and other thoughtful details. I felt deeply cared for by their beautifully prepared meals and gracious hospitality.||In short, I am already planning my next visit and hope to bring my loved ones with me to share in the magic of the Grand Hacienda.

It is impossible to describe this unique and beautiful place. We had the best stay. The location and views are breathtaking, with nearby hikes or walks if desired. So much care is taken in every detail to create a luxurious experience. The beds are so comfortable, and the rooms have beautiful views out every window and a personal patio for lounging and star gazing. I love their healthy focus, from shower products, to minimal EMF, to the amazing gourmet breakfasts with produce they have grown or obtained locally. Carolyn and Tom have elevated breakfast to an art form, and are just the most wonderful hosts. We plan to return every year.

Carolyn and Tom are wonderful hosts it feels like they are welcoming you to their home as old friends. The rooms were very comfortable, spacious and clean. Views that go on for days. Quiet like I have never experienced. Dinner and breakfast were so tasty with such attention to every little detail. Would highly recommend.

My husband and I visited The Grand Hacienda Estate this month. This was our third trip there over a period of several years and we plan to go back again as this is such a phenomenal place. Tom and Carolyn are the perfect hosts looking after our every need. They're both professional chefs and the meals they prepare are second to none. Breakfast is provided every morning in the Great Room and each dish is a masterpiece. Sitting at the big rustic dining table, drinking your coffee and looking out at the stunning view, you might think you're in heaven...then the food is served...and you know you're in heaven. Carolyn explains the various dishes and how Tom grows many of the herbs used in the food preparation. They thought of every detail when they designed this B&B. There are only three guest rooms and each room has a small private patio with a chiminea and comfortable lounging chairs to sit and take in the breathtaking beauty of the land. A full kitchen is available for all guests should you want to prepare your own meal. If you're lucky while you're there, one night Tom will set up his super duper telescope and you'll get to see the rings of Saturn and the moons of Jupiter. Very amazing. I could go on. If you'll read the many outstanding reviews of this B&B, you'll surely want to include it in your next travel adventure in this area. Be sure to look at the pictures...they tell this amazing story and the treat you'll be in for from the time you set foot inside the gate til the time you leave. This is probably our favorite stopover in all the traveling we've done. Thank you, Tom and Carolyn.

You know you've been to a special place when it's two months later and you still can't stop thinking or talking about it. Carolyn and Tom have created something unique and wonderful in Abiquiu. The rooms are beautifully designed and beyond comfortable, the food was healthy and delicious and prepared with love, and the ambiance was welcoming and relaxing from the moment we arrived. We hoped this would be a special place and we were not disappointed. If we could give it 10 stars, we would!

The Grand Hacienda is a wonderful place. Nancy and I had the greatest time staying there. The views were astonishing. Carolyn and Tom are the best hosts and fun to visit with. The rooms are superb, ultra clean, and well furbished with everything. The food was outstanding and would make Gordon Ramsay proud. Each room has large windows to view the lake and the mountains yet has privacy in mind. Each room has a patio to sit out on to enjoy the fresh air, sunrises, and plentiful Hummingbirds. Prairie dogs are visible on the drive in as well as ravens, jackrabbits, and coyotes can be heard off in the distance in the early morning hours. Abiquiu Lake is beautiful and seen on one side of the Hacienda and Georgia O'Keeffe's beloved Pedernal Mountain is seen on the other side of the Hacienda. Ghost Ranch is nearby, and the red rocks seen from the Hacienda add to the magic of the Grand Hacienda views. At night, the dark sky allows you to see the universe that surrounds us and the Milky Way stretches across the heavens. A most wonderful place to stay. Thank you Tom and Carolyn for providing a truly special retreat. The remote austere beauty of the Grand Hacienda's location is breathtaking. Our breakfast was delicious. Certainly, one of the highlights was the conversations with the other guests and Tom and Carolyn. We are sorry we only spent one night and hope to return for a longer stay.

Returning to the Grand Hacienda for the 4th time felt like coming home. Actually the incredible location, hospitality from our hosts Tom and Carolyn and amazing gourmet meals made it better than home. This is the perfect spot to relax, meet other interesting guests and some of the best hikes I have ever had. We will be back soon.
