The Golden Goose - Cocktail bar in Austin - 2034 S Lamar Blvd, USA

Unfortunately this has to be said. My girlfriend and I spend NYE there. When I went up to the bar multiple times I was completely ignored by two of the ladies. One older woman with glasses and the other one was the one that didn't have all the tattoos. The one that had all the tattoos was one of the best bartenders I have had at a bar in a long time. So the owner should know that. Now, I cannot say for certain that these other ladies were treating me differently because my color, but being a man of color growing up in this body knows what that looks like and can see it all over people's faces. These two ladies multiple times purposely did not look at me to serve me. My girlfriend is white so I had her go up there on the last drink because she was furious!!! It was so bad the people we had just met kept asking her where I was because it was taking me so long to get served. Needless to say the girls were super eager to serve my girlfriend. We spent a total of at least 220 dollars at that bar. I will not be going back for a long time until they can get the staff under control. Austin needs to take better pride in SERVICE. I have lived here for 20 plus years and I'll just say the scene is behind big time.

Hands down the best Bar I went to while visiting Austin for a weekend. My friends and I ended the night here and I had a NY sour. Wow perfect flavor. This is a mix of a craft cocktail and dive bar feel. Perfect place to have a few drinks. Tons of seating when we went and the bartender was super nice.

My friend and I visited Golden Goose on Tuesday, December 12th around 1 am. We ordered two well margaritas, but unfortunately, we encountered some issues with the bartender's attitude. The bartender seemed tired and irritated throughout our interaction. We sat on the couches adjacent to the bar and enjoyed our drinks. After finishing our first round of drinks, which we had already paid for, we decided to order a second round consisting of a shot of tequila and a Tecate beer. When I approached the bar to order the second round, I unintentionally stood at a spot that the bartender asked me not to occupy. In response, the bartender placed a divider and got uncomfortably close to me. I apologized and explained that there was no other available space at the bar. Despite this, I proceeded to place my order and pay for it. However, at that moment, the bartender pointed at my friend and claimed that he was asleep, stating that she could not serve us. In reality, my friend was simply lounging on the couch, looking down at his phone, which may have given the impression that his eyes were shut. The bartender's approach in asking us to leave was aggressive, and she escorted us out as if we had been uncooperative or confrontational. It was disappointing that she did not inquire about my friend's well-being or attempt to confirm whether he was actually sleeping. It is worth mentioning that my friend, who owns several businesses and bars, is well-versed in the rules and regulations set by the TABC (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission). The way we were treated during this incident was unsatisfactory, as the bartender made assumptions about my friend's state and still charged us for the drinks. Furthermore, she initially provided a refund but later charged me again at the end of the night.

Cozy little bar, best for non peak hours. Good bartenders and bill comes in a romance novel which is a memorable touch. 8.6/10 would recommend.

Hands-down the worst bar service I have ever received. The attitude of the woman with the glasses serving us was absolutely absurd- I wish I caught her name. Sometimes you get too bitter to work in SI anymore… It’s a bummer because the bar itself seems like a sweet spot but I’ll never recommend this place again.

Horrible service. The bar is ok and the prices are better than other places but the service sucks. I would rather pay more for better service than come here. The “Karen” bartender didn’t want to admit they were wrong and discriminating against us she would rather kick us out than deal with a woman ordering a beer instead of a cocktail. She pretends to be friends with everyone. The old bartender with glasses thinks she is the best thing to happen but she is the worst and most discriminative bartender I have ever had to deal with. If I could leave zero stars I would. Just because I can’t remember exactly what “J” name that bartender has I would put it. If they had a real reason to act like they did I would understand but it was at least an hour and a half before closing when they decided to single us out. Horrible service and the girl bartender with the glasses has been the worst bartender I have ever experienced.

The bartender on November 21st, the one with glasses was the rudest and worst bartender I’ve ever experienced. Not professional and yelled over the bar multiple times at multiple customers. Possibly the worst experience at any bar in Austin and I’ve lived here for 13 years.

1st time there to meet some coworkers. Shuffleboard cool, drinks good, atmosphere chill, bartenders and backs very cool, also cool friendly ladies and gentlemen throughout the place.... Will be going more often now that I know!!! lol Oh, I don't remember if they serve food or not... Was having a good time to think about food, sorry...
