The Francis Malbone House - Featured Reviews (134)
Convenient location on Thames. Our room was well appointed and maintained very nicely. Very quiet. Everyone from the staff standpoint was pleasant as could be. The breakfast option was very nice. Able to eat outdoor in the garden every morning. Able to walk to local attractions/restaurants/waterfront/stores from the location of the hotel. It was very easy to get an Uber at night time to go to farther locations for dinner. An absolute plus was easy parking in their private lot. For a long weekend and easy place to go to, and we will be back.
My wife and I took our first trip to Newport this weekend and absolutely loved it! We stayed at the Francis Malbone House and we were not disappointed! The location is absolutely perfect. We pulled in on Friday and never had to get back into the car until we left on Monday! The staff are tremendous and very willing to accommodate your requests. The breakfast and afternoon snacks are perfect. We loved it so much that we are already planning our next trip back. If you are traveling to Newport be sure to stay at the Francis Malbone House.....you will not be disappointed!
We stayed at Francis Malbone house for the long Labor Day weekend. Newport was busy, but we could retreat to the peaceful confines of the Malbone House. Room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. Environment was quiet and relaxed with several chill common areas including the courtyard. |Breakfast and afternoon treats were a highlight. ||We’ll be back to enjoy the hospitality of the staff, the convenience of the location and the comforts of the Inn
What a great place to stay!|My sister and I stayed here for our first trip to Newport. The staff was amazing ! Toby was wonderful, and I hope I spelled her name right. Boy, can that sweet, beautiful lady (inside and out) sing. Toby, Sue, Liz, and Dominic (again, I hope I spelled names right) were all fantastic. My sister didn't mention to them that she can't eat sugar. They were so sweet and created some tea time dishes she could enjoy without having the not so healthy sugar free substitutes. Rooms were always clean, thank you, housekeeping. Everything was great! Food and desserts were awesome. Very tasty dishes. Get their cookbook! My sister wishes she had!
The BEST bed n breakfast I’ve ever been to anywhere! The service given from the sweetest staff was exceptional! Sue, Liz, Gretchen, Toby , Suzanne all exceeded our expectations ! Sue made gourmet breakfasts, the best I’ve ever had! Their tea time was a feast of the most delicious salads, cheeses, dips, berry cheesecakes, cookies and more! The rooms and bathrooms with soaking tubs were spotless and bed linens heavenly! The location is right on Thames Street surrounded by restaurants, fudge & ice cream shops and many other shops of many varieties. They are also located one block from the Wharf for more restaurants and shops right on the water! We also drove 5-10 minutes to gorgeous beaches. I want to return to this amazing place again and again!
The Malbone House is great! Historic home, updated and beautiful and with a fabulous, friendly and helpful staff! The breakfasts are FABULOUS! The afternoon tea serving is also FABULOUS!! We would stay there again! Great little town with lots to do!
The Frances Malbone House provides a glimpse into the 1760s when a wealthy merchant was the owner. Sit in one of the parlors or touch the fine wood-grained stair railing and experience timeless luxury. Peter Harrison, a former sea captain captured by the French navy in their war with Britain, designed the house. He also designed Newport 's nearby historic Redwood Library and the Touro Synagogue where President George Washington proclaimed a new nation devoted to religious tolerance. Enjoy a beverage or a delicious breakfast and tea-time delicacies in the shady, floral courtyard as you step away from Newport 's crowds into quiet contentment. For our anniversary, innkeeper and gourmet chef Liz surprised us with strawberries dipped in chocolate. Such personalized attention is given by the entire staff. What a wonderful experience.
This was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast and I can’t wait to come back. The service at The Francis Malbone House is incredible, the location is perfect (in the heart of Thames street), and the entire building is beautiful. I highly recommend.
