Every time I’m in Bangor we make sure to make a reservation at Fiddlehead. The food and drinks are absolutely amazing! They are a farm to table restaurant and whatever they don’t get from their farm they source locally and I really think that makes all the difference. They serve unique takes on dishes you’ve had before. On my last visit one of the specials was a tomato salad with a balsamic glaze and some olive oil, goat cheese and basil with crostini. Sounds simple enough and something I’ve enjoyed before at other places, but WOW! The tomatoes were perfect! They were juicy but not watery and were complimented so nicely with the cheese and balsamic & oil. I was in heaven and that was only starter. My dishes just went up the yummy meter after that! I was too full to order dessert this time around. You would be doing yourself a disservice by not eating here if you’re in the area. I don’t think there’s a place I can recommend to eat at more!

This is a return visit to Fiddlehead and an updated review. I have had three visits, two were great and one just ok. This last visit was great. I ordered the hanger streak and had one of their speciality cocktails. My servers were great very friendly and accommodating. They made the meal fun. The steak was cooked just right which is always something I carefully consider in reviewing a restaurant. My cocktail had some flair with the burnt orange peel. My only negative was that the accompanying white beans with the steak were almost cool in temperature and should not have been. I do not know if the plate sat out or they were plated that way. It is a relatively minor issue that the kitchen can easily resolve. Otherwise, a pleasant visit and worth a return.

Had a delicious meal in this lovely restaurant. Staff is friendly and attentive. Wonderful cheese plate, delicious fish chowder. If you come to Bangor, do not miss the chance to try Fiddlehead.

Exceptional dining that was easily our best meal in Maine and reviews well against any restaurant in the country. The cheese board featured three well paired and delicious cheeses along with a great sorpresetta. The star of the show were the perfectly cooked and well seasoned lamb chops. Also at the table was a seared halibut with brown butter roasted cauliflower that was equally great. If I lived in Maine, I would be back frequently but I feel prevliged to have had the chance to experience the hospitality and great food of Laura and her team. Excellent work, ladies.

Firstly, the staff here was a breath of fresh air. It’s rare you go to a restaurant and are served by people that actually enjoy their jobs. The waitresses laughed uproariously several times while I was there. While the price of the food and drink is higher than your average restaurant, the preparation and quality is well above average as well. I started with the feta cheese and meat plate and a salad. My entree was “The Burger”. It was all very delicious. I had a couple drinks as well. The pickled ginger was decent, but the Herbie Hancocktail was very good. This place is a must if you want food and drink that is prepared with a lot of attention to detail.

Some say it is loud. Yes, it is a place to celebrate and do it with exuberance. It is home.....and fine dining blended together in what many could not handle. If you come for fine dining you will be mesmerized by the spectacular food. If you want quiet and demur with elegant music in the background you will be disappointed. It is like the home kitchen with family bantering and laughing all through it. Laura and Mel have taken that home feel, put flavors and foods together that will have you wondering, "what flavors are those!?" Desserts that Karlie puts together, like key lime crème brûlée and crème brûlée with vanilla bean and pepper corns; again having you wondering, "how is this so amazing!?" It is a small restaurant that takes glorious pride in providing a lot of their own home-grown foods, and what they can't from the Fiddlehead Farm, they source locally. Our only negative is the Herbie Hancock is going into hibernation until basil comes again in the spring. Needless to say, we applaud their commitment to 'the fresh' and 'in season', but are already depressed because Herbie was a trusted friend! And the staff, what beautiful amazing souls! They compliment the dreams of two woman and add their own verve, like an added sauce that takes the meal to the next level. I think we would even go so far as to say they are the wonderful butter dripping over a beautiful steak or delicately prepared fish. Standing ovation to such a wonderful place and the atmosphere they foster!!!

Excellent service and inventive, tasty food. We ordered the burger, pork belly, and tofu, but there’s no bad option on this rotating menu chock full of fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. The best part, though, was that the restaurant never rushes its customers through their meals, so we enjoyed a lengthy, relaxing meal at our leisure. Be sure to indulge the complimentary cornbread with molasses — it’s plate-lickin good!

This is a must experience restaurant if your in the Bangor area looking for a elegant but semi casual place for dinner. They have spectacular house cocktails, and I highly recommend the Mexican honeybee, and the lavandula angustifolia. They both have very smooth tastes that both blend well with the natural ingredients and the liquor. The lavendar cocktail has a very pleasant soothing aroma that is complements the lemon, limoncello, and lavender vodka. The lavender buds on top are a beautiful touch as well. The menus are in order from a starter to salads, then the main entree. The presentation of the foods are very clean and elegant. The house chowder which wasn't on the menu but the hostess told us about piqued our interest. By far this is one of the best salmon chowders I've ever had. From Los Angeles to Tokyo and of course Maine, this one by far exceeds past them all in regards to the diversity of flavors and presentation. The staff and atmosphere of this place deserves 5 stars hands down. Overall this place has a very nice feel and is lovely for a date.

Great place to play basketball, they just redid the court. Hopefully it can stay nice this time and no kids destroy the rubber tiles. Best place in the bangor area to play, as well as a variety of park feature in the playground!
