Been staying at The Farrington Inn for quite some time the past few days while my wife & I have been up in Boston. The staff are extremely nice, and make you feel welcomed with a smile from ear to ear. Each room is a different layout, there are some that have a small table with chairs, a kitchen area with a microwave, and cabinet space. These typically come with private bathrooms. There are other rooms that are cheaper, that have a shared bathroom. How that works is, you have your own bedroom with a lock separately and you go out into the hallway to enter the bathroom door, which also has a lock on it. The private bathrooms from my experience has had a small kitchen like I said above, and the shared bathrooms are just simply a small room. Would make sense due to the price difference. As far as the price, they are reasonable and the cheapest for sure. 5.1 miles from downtown Boston, depending on traffic that’s a 15-25 minute drive. You do have to pay for private parking out back it’s $10, but you can also attempt to find street parking. Overall, if you’re looking for a good night sleep I’ve had 0 noise issues, peaceful nights of sleep, and it’s been comfortable. Definitely will be staying here anytime we are in the area.

I stayed for a week on my trip. The hotel is cheap, the cheapest I found in Boston and that was one of it's main selling points. I'm under no illusions you're paying a low price but with a couple of improvements it could be perfect. The staff were great. The room was lovely, everything's a little outdated but I really thought that was part of the charm. You had a separate key for the building, the communal area and your room so you felt very secure and safe. The only thing that let the place down was overall cleanliness. The room was ok, just a bit dusty. The communal area was pretty terrible. One of the reasons I was excited about this place was it had a kitchen to save money on eating out every day but the fridge was disgusting. I ended up putting all my things in plastic bags in there because there were various liquids pooling at the back of shelves. That being said if there was a little more effort made in that area it would be a perfect low-budget stay.

The inn is Halloween appropriate! If you want a spooky experience, you can stay here. The host stayed and welcomed when I checked in late but managed to get payment for all the 3 days ahead while checking in. This should have alerted me. The room was dirty and then in passing he showed the restroom which was outside the room and it’s a shared bathroom. I should have read the reviews and it was my fault. The bathroom was dirty. As mentioned in one of the reviews which I read later, it was probably cleaned in Victorian era when it was constructed. No toilet paper, no rugs or towels.Hand soaps lying near the sink everywhere! I have never experienced this kind of stay in the USA! And it’s not cheap. We wanted a bed and breakfast type of experience and ended up being in a shabby Sherlock Holmes novel described place. Room keys may not work! Ram away the minute we woke up the next morning and ended up staying in another hotel. I got scammed and lost my money. I m not sure how this place is not hazardous for living conditions per American standards. What do authorities doing when they come for inspection? I don’t have pictures of the bathroom. I was in shock and ran out of it and forgot to take pic! I wish there are negative stars

Due to a canceled connecting flight, I was stranded in BOS for 18 hours after nearly 20 hours of travel and lost luggage. I looked up several properties ranging from exorbitantly expensive (which I couldn't justify for a random layover by myself) to run-of-the-mill chain hotels outside of the city (which to me offered nothing "special"). I took a whim on Farrington Inn and was SO happy I did. Cab ride from BOS was a rip-off, def suggest Uber it was half the cost. First of all, if you prefer "white glove service" with turn-down, wakeup calls and a concierge, this hotel is not for you. If you clutch your pearls in "urban" areas, this hotel is not for you. If you are disgusted with older facilities with clean but chipped tiles and threadbare rugs this is not for you. |If you appreciate the unique, very old architecture, creaky wooden floors, high ceilings, glass doorknobs and a location that puts you in easy access to walkable restaurants and a 40 min walk to Harvard Square like I did, this place IS for you. |I encountered 3 of the staff working here and each was amazingly sweet- one that checked me in, one who brought me to my room and one the following day picking up trash around the property who answered a couple questions for me, even helping me set up my Uber back to the airport. |The property and rooms are CLEAN albeit old. I had to laugh to myself after getting to my room as it reminded me of student housing that had been cleaned up to the best of their ability for "parents weekend." I found it charming. Upon checking in it was explained that they don't offer it online as it depends on availability but for $15 more there was a room available with a private bathroom, did I want it?- yes. There are 2 separate houses with rooms. I was in the second. Each building has a locking main entry door with a key and my room had THREE locks on it. Traveling by myself I felt very safe. The room I was in even had a kitchenette and a desk. Working wifi. |There were cracked tiles in the shower and dust along the floorboards but none of this bothered me as I knew what I was booking. |I walked to a convenience store and for takeout in the evening, about 10 minute walk and to parts of Harvard the next day, about 40 min. |Honestly the Farrington and it's staff was a breath of fresh air for someone travel weary as I was, in a great, accessible location and I enjoyed its quirky charms.

Bait & switch. The online photo of the inn is not where I stayed; I was walked around the corner to a shabby-looking apartment building that had some empty rooms the inn rents out, and other full-time residents. Two stars bc the bed was comfortable and the AC worked well. Staff is nice enough but for the price, the bathroom was messy and the carpet in the room needed vacuuming 6 months ago. Parking is $10. For the price you could stay a little further out for nicer accommodation.

It was such a bad experience staying there. When checking in, we were told that parking is $10 per night, which was never mentioned when booking. The carpet was very filthy. We paid $200 per night for a shared bathroom. The black mold on the tub was gross.

We were honestly quite happy with our accommodations. It's basic, but safe and gets the job done. The location is super close to the green line, bus stops to go downtown, there are tons of bars and restaurants within walking distance and it's in a neighborhood so it's pretty quiet. The rooms are older, but so long as you go in knowing that, honestly, for the price, well worth it. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Any issues or needs were responded to in a very reasonable amount of time and check in and check out were very easy. If we are ever in Boston again, I know we will stay here again.

Do not book it. There were 0 things in our room that actually worked properly. The TV was not working, the AC barely worked (on full blast the room when from very hot to moderately hot) and made loud clicking noises. The pillows are paper thin and even when you ask for extra you cannot stack them as beds are missing headboards and pillows just fall off. The mattresses make loud screeching noises every time anyone moves a muscle. The bathroom vanities is falling apart and the inside of it was not cleaned since colonial era times. Tiles are cracked everywhere , the carpets are dusty. The whole place, is run down and lacks care in every conceivable way, which is sad because the building itself has a lot of character and the place could be great if someone took proper care of it. We booked the place for 4night, but left after first (sleepless ) night and doing a much better hotel for less money.
