Came here for my birthday dinner! (They don’t really do anything special for birthdays though) The homemade bread rolls and salad were phenomenal!! We should’ve asked for seconds on those… I got the Beef Wellington which tasted great but the portion was way smaller than expected. It reminded me of a sirloin steak wrapped in a pillsbury crescent roll. Glad I got to try it, but probably won’t get it again because of the price. Wife got the prime rib, which came in a good portion size. It tasted good for prime rib, but I think we like other cuts of meat over prime rib. We loved the fancy atmosphere and the antique decorations. You really sink into the chairs here which was surprising but still comfortable. I also liked the low set lighting although it did make it hard to take photos. They took our coats which was rather fancy. We walked around outside and loved seeing all the nice scenery and all the good photo ops! Definitely a good restaurant to celebrate a special occasion, given the prices!
Unfortunately, I am forced to change my 5 star review of this restaurant. I had a 6pm reservation to this restaurant. The are literally 9 cars in the parking lot. Only a handful of tables were occupied. We were sat in an empty room next to the noisy kitchen. We politely asked the hostess to be sat at another table and were told that was the only table available. We saw other parties of 2 sat at other tables after us and there were plenty of other 2 tops available. I asked to speak to the manager and was given some song and dance about how the other tables were spoken for and how they had to balance their wait staff. We walked out after being treated so rudely. We were here to celebrate a special occasion and this placed ruined our evening. We have been here many times before with amazing hospitality and service. I'm not sure what happened. Diner beware.
This was our honeymoon night and we had the ultimate dinner every bite was fantastic. Prime rib was cooked perfectly and the lobster stuffed walleye was amazing. Salad dressing was a light citrus vinaigrette there was goat cheese and walnuts in the salad. The carrot cake was great but the creme brulee was the best I have ever had. Our room in the cottage was beautiful and had a gas fireplace a Jacuzzi tub and a covered porch . The mimosa breakfast this morning was wonderful. Already planning on when we can go back
Has quite of a unique feel to it. Reminds me of Casa Loma. Didn't think a place like this existed near the Greater Lansing area. We are always treated very nicely, and the waiters are very professional. Never left the place hungry. Dinner has always been memorable.
The English Inn provided exceptional service, breathtaking scenery, and excellent food and drinks. We couldn’t have chosen a better venue for our wedding day! It was magical and breathtaking. We went with their diamond package, reserved the entire day, had our ceremony and reception there, and reserved cottages for multiple nights. Their event coordinator, Adriana, exceeded our expectations with so many details it’s difficult to list everything. One special, beyond expectation moment was how she helped coordinate our marriage certificate signing within the library, complete with champagne and hors devours from the cocktail hour, for an intimate moment with our immediate family members. All staff made great impressions on us and our guests. We had many guests stay at the Inn for the weekend, and all of them were highly impressed. The grounds and estate have been very well maintained, including being freshly mowed the morning of. We’d also like to highlight the kitchen crew and bar staff; they were on top of it! Everyone enjoyed their meals and couldn’t get enough of the specialty cocktails. Overall, we feel and heard from our guests that our wedding was magical, and we know a great deal of that came from the hard work of The English Inn and its staff. It really isn’t possible to write out all the positive feedback we feel and heard from our guests – without writing a book!
Beautiful grounds for an old world experience. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. My only complaint was the food service for the event. The food was nothing special but I'm spoiled with my wifes quiche.
All around amazing experience! We stayed one night at the English Inn while touring for the wedding venue. Right away we were greeted by everyone working in the Inn/restaurant and shown to our room. We stayed in the Chelsea antique room and loved it! The room was charming and cozy, with modern amenities (AC) and an updated bathroom. We had drinks at the pub before dinner (loved the elderflower spritz). Dinner was a great experience and worth every penny. We were served bread, and then ordered two appetizers; baked Brie and the escargot. Salads before dinner, we enjoyed the prime rib and scallops, and then ended the night with crème brule. In the morning we were brought coffee to our door, and then enjoyed breakfast downstairs. The only complaint we had was that breakfast took a very long time, but the French toast was very good. The gardens are so charming and it’s such a nice, quiet getaway. Thank you to the staff for our wonderful stay!
A beautiful wedding venue! The grounds and the main building are gorgeous, the food is wonderful. The service is stellar. The guest rooms, not the best experience. Our room was claustrophobic, it was cramped and the windows faced a main drive/walkway, so the shades had to be closed. The walls were thin and the other guests could be heard, it felt like they were in the same room. The bed was very firm and uncomfortable. The "updated" bathroom had a tiny shower. Walking from the room building to the main building for meals was treacherous.

First time I have been there and food was great! Service was great- staff were professional and courteous. The location is also nice, however I thought the music playing was loud. If you like authentic Mexican food, this is the place to go. Don't exp

My husband works at the Hospital down the road so I am usually coming here in the morning for him and his co workers. I have always had an excellent time at this biggby. Drinks are amazing, service, and everything else!
This is a great little restaurant in a small, quiet town. The menue is good and prices are reasonable. I have had various burgers, smothered chicken, and salads. Today, I ordered the lasagna, and it was great. It's an item I usually do not order beca
