The Donatello - Resort hotel in San Francisco - 501 Post St, USA

This was a great hotel that we used points for.   It is located in the heart of Union Square.  It is close to everything and easy to access transit.   This was strictly a baseball trip and was an easy walk to the ballpark.   The rooftop patio closes so early, the lady told us 10:30 but it closed a little earlier than that.  We would have liked it to be open later so we could have our night cap up there.  It was a nice patio with high enough walls to keep the wind out.   The Toilet seemed to not work the greatest we would have to flush two or three times just to get toilet paper to go down.   The most annoying thing about the hotel was the Timeshare people, they were very persistent, but once we told them firmly no and avoided them the rest of the trip was great.   The room has a small fridge and a microwave. It came with a couple glasses, a couple bowls and plates as well as scissors and cutlery in the drawer. I wish there was a cutting board and knife, our favorite snack is to go to a deli and get meat and cheese. There is a CVS and Walgreens very close by. Lots of breakfast places and a couple of liquor/delis nearby. I would stay here again.

Well located. The room was nice, tidy, and spacious, with nice views. Had everything that we needed. Everything about the hotel was clean and well kept. Service was phenomenal! This trip was a mixture of business and pleasure. When they found out that I was celebrating my anniversary early and that my partner would be arriving later on that day- minutes after me settling in to my room, I was gifted a basket of chocolates and cider (since I don't consume alcohol). All of the the staff members that I encountered were personable and delightful. They made the stay that much more special. They were more than willing to have conversations, answer questions, give advice and suggestions. They greeted me every time with genuine happiness. And now this is the only hotel I want to stay in when I come to San Francisco. Friendly staff is not always common.

Excellent séjour dans cet hôtel moderne et idéalement situé. L'accueil était très chaleureux, les informations claires et un petit guide de la ville est même fourni (avec des réductions dans certains restaurants). Les chambres sont spacieuses, propres et avec une belle vue. Petit bémol, l'insonorisation n'est pas excellente. Excellent rapport qualité prix pour un couple

Très bel hôtel à 2 minutes à pied d'union Square et à 5 minutes du métro, tram ou bus. Situation idéale. Des boissons chaudes sont mises à votre disposition au 14ème étage, dans un très joli club avec terrasse. Dommage qu'il n'y ai pas de bar à cet endroit. Chambre avec frigo, micro-ondes et évier... Demander le 5ème étage, vous aurez une magnifique terrasse en plus.

This is nice lodging close to public transportation, but on the edge of sketchiness. The staff is so friendly and helpful, which I should know because I had to call maintenance several times with issues about my hot room. (Thermostat set on 67, but room stayed a constant 76 degrees or more. I finally gave up.) For a large building, the fitness room is wholly inadequate. Most mornings I had to leave because it only comfortably accommodates 2-3 people. It is tiny. There is only one bench, a few aerobic machines, and a rack of weights, a dismal disappointment. Obviously, working out is not a priority when in SF, but a nice fitness room is always a bonus (and a factor in why I chose this place). So with my hot room and no ability to work out, probably won’t return.

The last time I went to San Francisco, I stayed at The Canterbury and was impressed. The Donatello was as delightful, and more conveniently located near Union Square and Chinatown. The staff is wonderful, and the rooms are spacious. We had a terrace with our room where we sat out and had coffee every morning. The restaurant inside the hotel (Zingari) is pricey, but the food was delicious! This will be my go-to place when I return.

Amazing property. Spent 2 nights prior to a cruise to Alaska. Great Service, yhe staff was always smiling. clean rooms, comfortable bedding. Can't go wrong here, especially since it is named after a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. Elevators were fast. Filtered water available in the lobby.

Nice place and nice room but the club/lounge was much smaller than expected. The male workers were all nice but some of the female front desk workers were inappropriate? I guess since I’m light skinned they assumed I didn’t know Spanish but I heard some cursing and talking about very personal things in Spanish even in front of kids sort of loudly. Other than those two things though, it’s a very nice place and area with good room service and nice helpful workers (minus the maybe 3 female workers who were unprofessional)
