The Dixie Hollywood Hotel - Featured Reviews (1242)
The neighborhood is sketchy: lots of homeless even doing drugs right on the street just half a block away; the property has a security guard. The hotel itself is ok, scratched old furniture with sticky paint, plastic-lined pillows, no fitted bed sheets for queen-sized beds. Staff is super friendly and helpful; there was some problem with the reservation but they upgraded us to the family suite for one night, so that was nice. They do ask for a $100 deposit that they do give back when you leave.
So this place has changed since we were here in 2020. We ended up @ this hotel after our initial hotels reservation was canceled. Disappointed is the only word!! Even though the room was clean, it was over priced at $180/night on a Tuesday! It had a small tv, hardly any cable channels, no outlets to charge cellphones unless you had the block, no lamps, dingy towels, the AC had some kind of switch that wouldn’t work after a certain time and no breakfast. It was our anniversary and I was so depressed but we were just tired and wanted to rest. We checked out early morning to find another modest hotel for half the price.
This is non smoke in and outside but I saw room 122 smoke outside their room. We couldn't leave our door open because of the smoke. No staff tell them at all. There is the note on the office door. "This hotel is non smoke in and outside" but on website it said there is a smoke area. We stayed below so we can hear the top guest stomp and walk heavy on the floor. Try to stay on top floor better.
I want to start off by reassuring anyone panicking that I did not see any cockroaches or bedbugs while staying here. Overall the room was clean, as were the sheets, pillowcases and towels (though the towels leave a little something to be desired).
The pictures online absolutely make it appear more inviting and updated than it actually is. The mattresses are in dire need of being replaced, same with the pillows and bathroom linens. The wood furniture in the room was very worn and chipped, and the room had a weird antiseptic type smell that persisted throughout our stay there.
The neighborhood the hotel is in is extremely seedy. There are a lot of very mentally ill, drug-using homeless people around. I did not see any of them on the hotel property while we were there, and there is a night security guard who prevents non-guests from entering the premises at night. I never felt unsafe on the property.
The major pros: parking is free, there is a supermarket right across the street, and if you're going to Universal, the metro is super closeby. The Walk of Fame and other famous sights are easy to get to by foot but the streets do have some very unsavory characters hanging around/living in tents on the sidewalks. The rooms have microwaves and mini fridges.
I don't think I'd ever stay here again and would be somewhat reluctant to enthusiastically recommend this motel, but much of that has to do with the area and not the motel itself. If anyone from the motel reads this -- updating the mattresses, painting your inside furniture and getting some fluffy towels would greatly help make the place more appealing.
It’s a nice place to stay, very clean they change the towels everyday and make the rooms. When I went the pool was in construction so that suck but in general it’s a nice place to stay.
The pool looked nice but it was too cold to use it when i went. In a convenient area, but its located in a lower income area, you can see the homeless people on the sidewalk from your windows. Be careful when walking alone around here, its located next to an exit of a train station. Theres a shopping plaza across the street which is nice. The rooms are damp and dark, but its a motel so thats what I expected. Room service was good!

I can't speak more highly of this amazing establishment. My friends and I came hungry and were treated to some of the most authentic and delicious plant-based / cruelty-free dishes. I ordered a little assortment and each one became my favorite!

Valentina and Helen are absolutely wonderful trainers. They always go out of their way to help everybody out: always giving adjustments to improve posture and performance. I always book a session when one of them is there. They also play great music.
My time at this gym has been nothing short of exceptional! I recently hit my 1 year anniversary and am proud to be a member of CrossFit Echo Park. At first I was hesitant about joining CrossFit in general due to thinking it was just a bunch of rugged
