Excellent hotel! The lobby is very elegant, and the rooms are comfortable, not luxurious. The rest wasn't very good, but that was mainly due to the poor manners of many people arriving in the middle of the night, slamming doors, and talking loudly (the hotel can't choose the type of guests it receives). Pleasant pool, with free snacks and water. The restaurant is spacious, with prices appropriate for Savannah and the hotel. An outrageously expensive valet parking service; but don’t worry, you’ll find Liberty Parking nearby with much more reasonable prices.Recommended
My husband and I were in Savannah for labor day weekend. We stayed for 2 nights. The first night was a Marriott property and I'm a huge fan of Marriott. But we unexpectedly needed an additional night in Savannah and had to search for another hotel. Because it was a holiday weekend, the search was lightweight stressful. By luck or divine intervention, we landed a room at this hotel. The staff were UBER accommodating in helping us transition from the original hotel to this one. When we walked in the hotel we were overwhelmed by the beauty of the lobby and knew we made the right choice. We got to our corner executive suite with balcony room and our mouths dropped. We had scored the perfect room, with the perfect views, beautiful hotel and central to where we needed to be. I had read some reviews prior to booking and saw a mix bag. I'm very critical of hotels and this one delivered. Book this place. We plan to go back!
This is the second time we have stayed at the De Soto and both times were wonderful experiences. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are clean, the beds are comfy, and the staff is amazing. The area is safe and provides a lot of shopping and eating within walking distance. The view from high floors is gorgeous. The food and drinks are delish.
The hotel was nice. The lobby and pool area were perfect. The rooms could use a little TLC. The location was good. A nice walk to the famous River Street. Please be aware this hotel allows pets and the walls are not sound proof. Anytime someone walked by the dog would bark. It was very annoying. The balcony rooms had great views, however it would have been nice if outside chairs were available on the balconies. Overall, I'd stay here again.
Just got back home from a 4 day stay here and the only thing great about this hotel is the location. I would never stay here again nor recommend it to others. The pictures make the place look much better than what it really is which is run down and old with minimal help from its staff.
We upgraded to a king room with city view. The view was nice the room was mediocre at best for the $219/night we paid for. The bathroom was very old and still had hair in the corners from prior guests, the furniture also had so many dents and marks. The drawers did not open and close properly. The shower door didn’t open and close properly. The shower was very slow and weak. Water temperature was good. The ac was on but the temperature wouldn’t move. The king bed was decent.
Overall, this hotel charges way too much for how little it offers. I called the day before my departure to ask for a late check out, they said that they could approve it if I called the next morning. I called at 8 am as soon as I woke up and they denied me a late checkout even though they told me they would be able to the evening before. Pool area and gym were good.
We had a fantastic stay. The service and staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The hotel rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. The location was perfect walking distance to many locations including my daughter's visit to SCAD. The pool area was exceptional. We would definitely stay here again!
I would avoid this hotel until they can improve their accommodations. Please understand this is a historic hotel. However, I've stayed at many historic hotels that are in much better shape than the Desoto. The lobby, bar, and restaurant are very nice. You can tell they've spent a lot of money to modernize them. The location is great!
The hallways to the rooms are very dimly lit. Our room temperature never got below 72. Our shower faucet was coming out of the wall. Each time we turned on the hot water, we heard a loud noise in the wall and the shower head shook. Unfortunately the same noise was heard in adjoining rooms anytime someone took a shower. The room was not well cleaned upon arrival.
The conference rooms were at 77 degrees all day. Maintenance came and "fixed it" but the temperature never changed. We were there for 3 days and never saw an improvement. The conference food was delicious and the staff were very friendly.
There are MANY better options in Savannah than this one.
This hotel is great I stayed in savanna many time I always stay in upscale hotels. This one was great the area the pool. The rooms were great. The 1540 room excellent. Dinner. Recommend. To anyone. Who wants a nice hotel the workers are very friendly. And helpful

Was traveling through and had the privilege of working out with a fun and talented group. The online sign up was super easy, was able to sign my waiver and reserve a class in a jiff. The gym was conveniently located and a quick walk from my hotel. T
