I stayed here for several days in January while my sister was passing. The staff at this place were AMAZING! They were sensitive to my needs and empathetic to my situation and worked with me so I could stay until my sister passed away. Sadly, I maxed out all of my credit cards and had to leave. It was the hardest thing I had to do. My sister passed away January 26. Just 10.5 hours shy of turning 60. I will forever be grateful to the staff here. A lot of places think about the bottom line being money, these wonderful people will never understand the gift they gave to me by allowing me to stay as long as possible. I'm hoping to return under different circumstances. If the staff are reading this, not only was I able to be there for my sister, I was also able to meet my brother Peter for the first time and my other sister who I haven't officially met yet. Maybe someday I can create a fund for people to be able to stay at hotels to be near their loved ones who are actively passing.
I can't recommend this place enough. The rooms were absolutely beautiful! We didn't get a themed room but even their regular rooms are gorgeous. Extremely clean and well kept. The staff was amazing and I love how they offer a movie night on the lawn on the weekends. They also have a lounge and game room which was so nice. It's not located in the heart of downtown Salem but it's only a 20 minute walk and they have parking on site for no additional fee which is awesome! HIGHLY recommend for anyone looking to stay in Salem!
I was skeptical when I learned that the "Clipper Ship" had changed to The Cove, but the location of this property makes it so desirable-we can literally walk to downtown Salem and not have to deal with parking. The "Clipper Ship" was just a clean place to sleep and leave out things while we explored Salem: The Cove is a beautiful updated space that made me enjoy my time away from the downtown as well. The rooms are clean, tastefully decorated and have a modern flair but comfortable and inviting.|The bed with the oversized pillows and super comfy mattress we the perfect destination after a day or walking; touring and shopping. I did not stay in a "themed" room so all I can say is if this was a standard room I can only imagine the extra details in a themed room. We will be back again the next time we head over to Salem for a getaway.
The hotel was amazing!! The staff was absolutely wonderful!! One staff memeber, Joe, went out of his way before the trip to answer any questions and helped with recommendations to things that we were looking for! The housekeeping staff made sure that we had anything and took our garbage if they saw us with it. The witches room was clean and so cute!!! I would highly recommend and I hope to stay there when the new rooms are available next year!! The location is perfectly between the main area of Salem and Beverly. This trip was the last family one before kids go off to college and our family expands as my daughter and son in law are expecting soon. After the day exploring we could sit on the patio and relax by the fire. We didn’t really use the clubhouse that much but it was a great option for a rainy day or just a hang out area for kids. I really couldn’t have found a better stay than this!
We loved the Cove! The rooms were nice, the game room was awesome, they do movie night for the kids on weekends which was great as well. To get to downtown Salem (Essex street) it took about 4-5 minutes and was also only minutes (again 4-5) away from the Ferry to Boston which was also great. Overall a nice stay! Next time we hope to stay in one of the themed rooms!
A very pleasant surprise! The room was exceptionally clean with fun and modern decor. It rained the night we came so we had a great time in the game room- it was a great experience! I really love the keyless check in and the shower was awesome. The only reason I am not rating it higher is the mattress wasn’t the most comfortable- but overall it was perfect for the night and I would definitely return. The guy at the front desk was also a pleasure.
We stayed in the ice themed room. It was very cool. Our daughter loved it. Only downfall to the room were the lack of blinds on the windows. There is a VERY bright light outside the door that illuminates the entire room all night. There were just sheer white curtains. There is also onsite construction currently going on. They seem to start around 8am. A bit early if you’ve had a late night.
The hotel is located about a mile outside of all the Salem fun. Makes for quiet relaxing nights away from the hustle and bustle. A quick drive but we also walked it many times during our stay. Took us about 15 minutes. The grounds were beautiful. We didn’t use any of the amenities the hotel offered as we were in town all day every day.
I’m excited to see the place when they’re finished.
We absolutely enjoyed our time at The Cove! The staff was incredibly kind and pleasant to be around, and they offer a guest closet for access after hours if you still need supplies. We got to the hotel early, and were able to obtain a parking pass before our check-in so that we could go walk downtown. There's a hang out area above the main office with games and entertainment, and at night they played a kid's movie out on the lawn. The room was beautifully decorated and very clean with the most comfortable mattresses a hotel has ever had. We quite literally loved our stay. It's about a 10 minute walk to the downtown sights, and there is a Dunkin and 99 Restaurant right next door to the hotel. 100% will stay there again!!
The room was clean and warm. The queen bed was comfortable and sheets smelled clean and soft. The daybed was a little noisy and the trundle bed needs an updated mattress. Neither of us slept on it but we did pull it out to relax by the TV. Love the s
We are recently back from a trip to Salem celebrating my birthday and Christmas. We chose the Hotel Salem without knowing much about it, but wow, did we choose well. The room was large and comfortable, the location perfect for exploring Salem, the re
Our first time in Salem, our first witch trial tour and the Bewitched tour was the highlight of our visit. Our guide Sarah did a wonderful job of sharing history of the witch trials, the town, the people, some trivia and the period in an engaging ent

Falafel sandwhich. As soon as I bit into it I swear my eyes rolled to the back of my head. Great portion size. The price is right for how tasty it is, honestly. You just have to try it. Service was incredible. The crispness was crazy good. My taste b
Amazing exhibition. Beautiful story, both authentic and humbling experience. Being able to walk through this house and hear the historical commentary was like being transported back in time. A must see if you are in the area.
