Absolutely charming! My fiancé and I choose this destination to get married on the private beach with just the two of us and our officiant. Best decision we made. Kelly, the Inn keeper, is probably one of the nicest persons we have met. She keeps the premise and rooms immaculate and cozy. Our complimentary breakfasts were delicious and simple to order. We look forward to return for our anniversary.
We had a small family reunion in early July and rented 4 of the cottages. The cottages were decorated with rustic charm and modern amenties. I loved that they were originally built in the 1930s and have been so lovingly preserved. The location is outstanding -- right near the lake -- but secluded because of all the beautiful trees. The owner and manager were kind and helpful. I've been to Tahoe many times but this is my favorite place I've ever stayed. I can't wait to go back.
Absolutely magical! We've spent our honeymoon there and it was more than perfect. The room was waiting for us, cozy and lit up even as we arrived after main desk's opening hours. There was even a lovely surprise inside for the newlyweds 😍 The owner is the nicest person and she makes sure all your needs are taken care of. She was calling us on our way up to give directions too. I really hope we will be back some day!
Darling rooms , each room different ! Nice little fridge . Breakfast was delicious ! They deliver to your room at a time you choose . |Staff pleasant snd helpful. We had an issue with a light in room and they came immediately and repaired it . Private beach directly across from the Inn. Very quiet Inn . Restaurants within walking yet you feel away from it . Loved it there , will return .
We were here 20 years ago for our wedding night, came back for our anniversary and fell in love again. The staff were amazing and kind. Breakfast was unbelievably delicious. We will be back... won't wait 20 years this time 😉.
My husband and I stayed at the Cottage Inn over Memorial Day for his birthday, and we found the property and our room to be incredibly charming. We had a wonderful time!
If you haven’t been to Lake Tahoe before, it’s important to understand that there aren’t many luxury hotels, and the whole vibe is very unassuming and camp-like. Set your expectations accordingly!
Knowing this, our criteria for a hotel were proximity to the lake and good value for the price. The Cottage Inn totally met and exceeded our expectations. It is family-owned, offering an intimate experience among guests and staff. There's only one person at the check-in desk, which is staffed from 7 AM to 7 PM. The woman who checked us in was very helpful, providing lots of information, discount coupons, and maps upon our arrival.
We stayed in the Romantic Hideaway room, which is aptly named! We loved that the staff delivered breakfast to our room every morning, and it was included in the cost of the stay. We also loved that we got exclusive access to the nearby lakefront park. We enjoyed playing chess at the picnic tables, sitting on the dock, and jumping into the lake each day. The property felt like an adult sleepaway camp and cozy compound, with string lights and a beautiful garden in the center.
Again, it is important to note that this property, and Lake Tahoe in general, does not offer much high-end luxury. This hotel does not offer room service or daily cleaning service. There is one small TV in the room, but are you really coming to Tahoe to watch TV? Also, the property is off the main road, which means some noise from cars, mostly during the day. However, if you want to be close to the lake, it is hard to find a property where this is not the case.
Overall, the Cottage Inn offers a delightful and charming stay with excellent value, especially for those looking to enjoy the natural beauty of Lake Tahoe. If you’ve ever stayed at the Post Ranch Inn or the Alila Ventana in Big Sur, I would recommend this place as it has the same woodsy feel. I look forward to returning to this property in the future!
This place is a dream. We stayed in Sierra Sunrise and loved everything about it — updated, the bedding omg, spacious, cozy, balcony with partial lake view… and the entire place looks like a little German village. The complimentary breakfast daily was so delicious and had great variety; delivered to your room. Service is wonderful - both the owner and receptionist are hands on “let me do it for you” and very hospitable. Let’s talk about location - it is STEPS to the most beautiful part of the lake, great dining options, and a quick drive to more shops and ski resorts. I can’t say enough good things about- sad to leave. Book it, don’t think twice!
What a cute place. Two minute walk to the private beach. Just a seven minute walk to Sunnyside restaurant. The breakfast was delicious. We already have a reservation for the Fall.

Will give this place an easy 5 stars. Place is close to everything, quiet and walking distance to the lake. They have very good coffee too!!! We loved waking up and sipping freshly brewed coffee in the morning. Clean rooms and comfy bed. Would love t
