The Citizen - Apartment complex in Memphis - 1835 Union Ave, USA

The Citizen is fantastic! If you are looking for an all in one living environment, the citizen is the right choice. I am on my 3rd Apartment, and my leasing agent Zach has always been amazing at meeting my requests, maintenance, and overall management to resident friendship. Every time I come home, Zach leads the team in fostering that sense of welcome home environment. It truly is the perfect apartment community.

The Citizen Luau this past Saturday was so so fun! As soon as I got the invite, I knew I had to pull up with my homies! As soon as you walk into the pool area, you’re literally transported to a tropical island. Being able to dip in the pool on a hot summer day truly blessed me! The food, refreshments, and the entertainment was OUT OF THE WORLD. The vibes? Immaculate. The staff? Attentive. The space? Absolutely gorgeous. Now I’m just waiting for the next pool party!

I lived there for 2 years. Fire alarms always going off, sometimes having to evacuate the building. There were two separate floods. The last flood ended up reaching my apartment and ruined my new mattress that I bought when I moved in. They promised me my full deposit would be refunded because the flood wrecked my apartment. It’s been 3 months since I moved out. I came to the front office to speak to the manager and couldn’t do anything. They told me to email corporate, that was 2 weeks ago. I haven’t received a reply or any sort of update on my deposit. I have heard from prior tenants that they make it near impossible to get any money back from your deposit. Management has changed hands multiple times while I was there, wonder why? Rent went up each year. Written on behalf of Former Resident Apt #234 L.K.S. Also, we have reached out multiple times. So I am not sure what more I can do?

Best place to live in midtown memphis! They always have really fun events for residents, such as yoga sessions or margarita nights. The place feels safe and management is awesome! Zach is the best. Also, the apartment complex always smells nice for some reason, and that makes me feel happy to be home. The gym is really nice, they have a stairmaster which I love, and there is also a fun boxing studio right next door. The only thing to keep in mind is to make sure to get the gated parking because I have seen multiple broken windows in cars located in the nongated parking, however, my car feels very safe in the gated area.

REVISING MY REVIEW - it's been 6 months and we still don't have our deposit back. I've emailed, called, and been told the corporate office would re-send it multiple times. We left our apartment in immaculate condition and were told we would not even be getting the full amount back. We’ve lived here the past 9 months and have had a great experience, we would probably renew if we weren’t moving out of state. The apartment is clean, new and spacious, amenities are nice, and location is perfect. There were a few hiccups over the holidays with severe weather events (as it was across all of Memphis) but maintenance has been fast to respond to anything in our unit (and say hello around the property). Neighbors are always friendly in the halls and it’s pet friendly as well :)

I absolutely love it here, can’t imagine a better place to live in Midtown. Plus I have amazing views of downtown from my apartment and I love all the amenities the Citizen has to offer. You will love this place if you choose it as your future home.

Zach was everything! I truly enjoyed my tour. These apartments are to die for!!! Very clean, spacious, and has everything a person needs and more!

The yoga experience was amazing. Love and Zach were the best and wonderful host during the process. They made sure that everyone were properly attended to. Thank you guys for the hospitality.
