We loved our stay here. The whole family went and got several rooms. The rooms are modern, clean, and very comfortable. The location is perfect. The outdoor kitchen is stocked with everything you need to prep your own food but there are great restaurants in walking distance as well. The staff was so friendly and helpful! We will definitely come back here!
My little family with 2 kids (7 & 4) plus our dog stayed here over the weekend. Everything was clean, the service was exceptional, friendly and helpful. We were expecting night time noise from neighbors/traffic and were pleasantly surprised that didn't happen at all! The balcony had an excellent view of Chimney Rock which was the cherry on top! We comfortably walked to restaurants and shopping from the hotel. It was a great stay and we had a wonderful time thanks to the thoughtfulness of this hotel! We will happily return and highly recommend!
I loved this lodge. I've never been before but I can tell it's been beautifully updated. I was greeted upon arrival and checked in very fast. I even got a military discount!! Thank you! The room was beautiful, the only thing needed is a microwave. There's a beautifulii view of the lake and Chimney Rock! Highly recommend and I will stay again!
We have stayed at Carter Lodge before, pre-renovation. The renovations are nice, it looks great now! The location is great for walking Chimney Rock Village, for a view of Chimney Rock, and access to the river; the river is right out behind the hotel! However, it is located in a gorge and both times we have visited, cell service has been pretty non-existent. We had no service at all with Verizon and very little with the hotel's Wi-Fi. We could only get a signal if we sat in the swing facing the river. So, if you must have internet to check in with work, etc, this is not the place to stay. We caught up on emails while having meals at the local restaurants Lakehouse and Riverwatch. There was a small construction crew there during our stay, but we didn't really see them working. Note there is not a restaurant in Chimney Rock that serves breakfast. If you require breakfast, I recommend getting something microwavable or toastable from Ingles and using the hotel's provided microwaves or toaster oven. There was an unhappy toddler in the room directly above us during our stay that cried and stomped across the floor a lot. I wouldn't get a lower level room here again. The first time we stayed, we didn't choose a lower level room and heard no neighbor's noise.
We stayed at the lodge New Years Eve. The room was fresh and clean. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was great! Pleasantly surprised! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The view from the balcony was beautiful. Highly recommend
We had so much fun. Loved everything from the view, to the updated rooms, to the outside seating areas. Grills for everyone to use. The beds are awesome. They are still working on the property and doing more every day. The only negative is internet. We could use wifi everywhere but there. We definitely will be back. It's awesome
I chose to book a room at this facility based on prices compared to other lodging options in the area, location on the river and the pictures of the rooms and facilities posted on their website. The lodge is charming. The first thing I noticed when I called to book was how courteous the staff was in answering the few questions I had about the lodge and the community. The bed was comfortable, and the room was super clean and thoughtfully decorated. Upon check in, the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay. And the view of Chimney Rock and the river from our balcony was lovely! I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area.
Spent a long weekend here and the location was perfect for us - within easy walking distance of Chimney Rock village shops, and right on the river. Relaxing on the balcony overlooking the river was so nice! The room was clean, super cute, and newly remodeled. The bed was fairly comfortable, but we're pretty picky about that. There's a one-cup coffee pot (not for use with pods) in the room and a mini-fridge. Toiletries (shampoo/conditioner/body wash/makeup removal towelettes) were provided, though we brought our own, as well as a hair dryer in the room. Upon check-in, the owner asked "cream or milk in your coffee?" and gave us a new, unopened container for our in-room coffee. That was a nice touch and saved us a trip to the store! Those little things don't seem like much but mean a lot after a long drive! The coffee was actually very good, which in unusual for those little prepackaged ones. The website states "free high speed wifi" but we were hardly able to connect at all, which wasn't a problem except when we wanted to look up restaurants and things to do nearby. When we were relaxing at the lodge, it was actually really nice to be unplugged! Just make sure you know the area and pick out/print directions to places you want to go since Google may not work there. Overall we had a wonderful stay and agreed we would stay here again! *One star removed because while housekeeping brought us clean towels, they didn't make the bed or take out trash despite our having put the door hanger out before 9am requesting our room be serviced (there was a large can outside that we took our own trash out to daily).
A Must Stay!!! I rented the apartment here and it was Home away from Home! I rented it to just get away for the weekend. The owner and staff are so kind! We spent 4 days here. It is absolutely Gorgeous!! I have stayed at other places but Hickory Fal
Located just past the hubbub of Chimney Rock and Lake Lure, Hickory Nuts Falls is a great spot to call home for a weekend. We went in early November, so most of the Fall colors had made their appearance. This is a pretty small family-owned campground
Great food, service, and atmosphere. Server never let our drinks run low, had the fried pickles and mushrooms and they were stellar. Got the hottie burger it lacked little salt but otherwise it was amazing. Walking in we weren't greeted but it is a
