The California Burger - Hamburger restaurant in Bakersfield - 400 Brundage Ln, USA

Just stopped here on my way to Vegas. My dad had the cheeseburger and I had the pastrami. Both were great. Fresh produce on the burger. Pastrami was seared nicely. We normally stopped at Carl’s Jr but this will be my go to stop when I make my Vegas runs. Oh yeah, best fries in the game.

I used to go here when it had a different name. I don't know if it was different ownership. Overall, I like the food, with some exceptions I will detail. It is a typical burger/fry place type menu with nothing super original to make it stand out in that regard. My main complaint is that for the price (comparable to the other independent burger places) they are kind of giving meager portions. The patties are either 1/5 lb or 1/8 lb. I am leaning toward the second. they feel small. I got a pastrami burger and there were only a few strips of pastrami meat on it, like it was bacon. to me, a pastrami burger has at least as much pastrami as burger. I will say one thing though. They have the best onion rings I have had in town. there were only 5-6 per order, but they were thick, super crunchy even after the long ride home, and perfectly seasoned. Also, not one of the onions came out of its breading as we ate them. Next time I am craving onion rings, this is the place I go.

Fast friendly service ordered drive thru. Order onion rings, cheeseburger, 3 taquitos, and corn dog. The food was ok the taquitos wetter flavor less and guacamole was just ok . Would probably go again for some fries ok place clean on the outside friendly cashier.

This is a cute old school hamburger joint. The facility is very clean and the dining area is also. I have been here several times and it’s always been good consistent tasty food. I Ordered the double cheeseburger fries and a soda combination. The staff that work here are very friendly and nice.

Went thru drive-thru for first time today. Ordered JrDblCheseBrgr Combo. Listed as 8.99 on the window. Ordered one side of ranch. No up size, no extras. The guy told me the total would be 11.79. ??? Not sure how that works but, you'll have to find another fool with money. I won't go back. Rip Off. Frosty King at MLKj and Brundage has great food! And fair prices. Never had a problem there.

All in all, food was good for the price. Fries were a little overcooked but no biggie. Will be coming back to try the rest of the menu.

Because I'm vegan they don't really have much for me to order besides fries but it's a cool spot

Cheeseburger was delicious. Fried pickles were bomb.
