Incredibly unique museum experience. The Bone Museum may have one of the largest collections of medical skulls in the country. The museum itself is physically small, but it offers a deep view into the history of bones in medical training and the bone trade. This is a great stopping point for people interested in bones or for people who are looking for something new and interesting to do in Brooklyn.

Such a phenomenal space!! Perfectly curated medical specimen of human bones. Masha greeted me and guided me through the pieces they have. Very knowledgable and the sweetest guide. Jon (the owner) was there as well. Also very sweet and knowledgable. Both are very passionate about their museum and I appreciate them for their hospitality. Will definitely be back. Masha and Jon are the freaking best <3 definitely recommend for any oddities lovers or anyone who loves bones!!

This is a hidden gem worth exploring for all the artists, medical personnel, science and history lovers, sociologists and more! Jon walks you through the history of the medical skull trade, how they acquired their exhibits and more. I learned a lot in this intimate, educational space. He also mentioned events to look out for and private space availability for drawing sessions. All the bones are medical and we’re traded by and for the study of medicine over the years. According to the owner, the bones cannot be traced for DNA and therefore cannot be given back to their families or buried properly - leaving them to be collected and shown off for art, educational and research purposes. Very cool space that does not exhibit any archeological or indigenous bones due to ethics. I suggest for folks who are unsure of the exhibit to at least talk with the owner and get further details/insight as to the purpose.

A hidden gem! The staff member who welcomed us was so nice! He shared lots of cool facts about the collection and was so kind to us. It's a small space but very dense with information if you take the time to read about the collection and ask questions. A humanist museum with a great perspective on caring for the dead, medical inquiry, and more! So many cool bones! RIP!

Such a cool experience! My wife and I came all the way from the DFW area and we made sure this was one of the places we had to visit before we left and I’m so glad we did. The staff was so nice and informative and made the whole experience so memorable. I recommend this place to anyone looking to visit NYC. Thanks again to the staff if you’re reading this!
