The food here is decent, I’d say it lacks a bit of flavor, but if you like that you’ll do fine. I personally keep to the cocktails and oysters these days. The service though!? It’s stand out, I’ve always had the best experience, Thomas is hands down one of the best! If you’re in the area definitely stop in and have a bite.
I’m a local, and a family member recommended this place, so I thought it would be really good. We had the boiled shrimp, BBQ shrimp appetizer, crabmeat au gratin, blue crab pasta, shrimp plate, and seafood gumbo. The BBQ shrimp was delicious, but everything else was just okay. Our server was really nice and friendly though, as well as the other workers we encountered.
One of the great seafood restaurants of New Orleans. Everything they do here is delicious and top quality ingredients only. I live their stuffed flounder and bbq blue crabs.
Great food, and our server was outstanding! He even took a group picture of all of us at our table! Will definitely go again.
Nice scenery, good service, okay food. Located between West End Boulevard and the canal to the Orleans Marina. Has a nice view of the canal, the marina, & the back of the Southern Yacht Club. The is plenty of outdoor dining on ground level and the upper lever, covered and uncovered. There is an elevator available to the upper level. Our food was decent. I liked the potato salad. It was not too sweet nor too vinegary. My fish du jour, grilled Mahi Mahi, was okay but it was too bland for my taste. It was cooked perfectly, not too dry nor quivering, but was bland like it was made for the tourists who do not like spicy New Orleans food.
The Blue Crab Restaurant and Oyster Bar offers a delightful dining experience with a menu that showcases the best of New Orleans seafood. The Chargrilled Oysters, while undeniably delicious, fall just short of the exceptional offerings at Acme and Drago's. However, that being said, they still secure a spot in the top 5, showcasing the competitive culinary landscape of the city. Where The Blue Crab truly shines is in its other seafood offerings. The Blue Crab Cakes are a must-try, delivering a perfect balance of flavors and a delightful texture. The crab claws are fresh and succulent, a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality seafood. Additionally, the Blue Crab Dip is a flavorful appetizer that should not be overlooked. The restaurant's ambiance is inviting, providing a relaxed setting for enjoying a seafood feast. While the Chargrilled Oysters may not quite reach the heights of some competitors, The Blue Crab compensates with a diverse menu that extends beyond oysters and includes standout dishes that are well worth exploring. The Blue Crab Restaurant and Oyster Bar is a solid choice for seafood enthusiasts, offering a variety of delectable dishes. Don't miss out on their exceptional Blue Crab Cakes, crab claws, and Blue Crab Dip – they truly set this establishment apart. A four-star rating is well-deserved, reflecting the overall positive dining experience.
This restaurant is always packed. So the enthusiasm for my first time was heightened. To my surprise, this place is mediocre. Service was horrible. 2 of the servers just placed our food on the table -then walked off. My salad looked beautiful, but tasted horrible. The shrimp was barely seasoned and the texture was rubbery. The best food item was the blue crab dip. No one liked their food. I don’t understand what all the hype is/was about b/c I was disappointed.
Beautiful day in New Orleans today so we decided to go have dinner by the lake. Finally I got a chance to eat at The Blue Crab. It’s usually too busy during the weekend. The food was delicious. We had the fried oysters and catfish. Serving size was good because you get side I wanted a salad but you can get French fries, veggies and more. The calamari was probably my favorite of them all. I’ll need to come back to try other items from the menu.
