The Blackbird Restaurant - Southern restaurant (US) in Asheville - 47 Biltmore Ave, USA

Update from September 2023: it’s a little inconsistent on the delivery of flavor. Under seasoned vs. super flavorful dishes. And they don’t have espresso?! Super super flavorful! They’re using local ingredients and many dishes are either perfect or close to perfect. Beef tartar was cooked (!!) lol so not our style but it was seasoned impeccably. And all dishes besides the beef pasta (which needed more salt) were seasoned perfectly. The cheese board was absolutely amazing! We’ll definitely be coming back for more.

The food here was good, solid food for brunch but nothing extraordinary. We enjoyed our meals and the staff was mostly attentive and helpful. I would have liked something “different” from them but it is what it is. I enjoy the dinner here a bit more as they are more experimental and fun with the dinner. I still recommend The blackbird to anyone who wants a good meal without the fuss. The Bloody Mary was excellent!

We had dinner at Blackbird Restaurant and overall had a great experience. The cocktails were good, we sat at the bar and the service was decent. They seemed very busy, but the recommendations were good. We had the cornbread which was dry and not sweet enough for my preference. My fiancé who likes heat did. Duck Confit was my fiancé’s 5/5 he says and tasted like thanksgiving on a plate. I had the catch of the day and the risotto and beans were fantastic. The fish was meaty and white -started with a C, not catfish and it was well prepared. My personal favorite was the dessert pecan pie blonde and it was to die for. Warm, delectable and perfect with the French press coffee. Overall, I would go back back to Blackbird and it was a nice change of pace from Austin food especially for a day of reservation.

I tried this place out while passing through Asheville. I tried the chef's tasting course with wine pairings. Some of the best wine I've ever had and it all went great with the food. The price was a bit high at $100 per person, but if we had ordered normal entrees they would have been about 30-40 each. The atmosphere seemed a little bit thrown together but everything was clean and inviting. Overall a good time, definitely go try this chef's creations. (pictures show menu and final course)

Great spot for brunch which we learned they started doing daily! Beautiful restaurant with a lovely interior. Employees are very nice and food was absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area. Now for my standard comments. The location is clean and we were comfortable with the indoor seating options.

Hate to give 5-stars but this 💯 According to the reviews, it should not have been busy Tuesday at 7p, but it was - and I’m glad! We sat at the bar with a fantastic bartender. She was very knowledgeable about the food and made a fantastic Mojito ☺️ Hubs had the seafood and I had the goat cheese corn pie - both were amazing. The flavors were Perfectly married on each plate. We also ordered the cauliflower appetizer and it was good, it was served with nuts and a goat cheese sauce.

They offer a "cash discount" that is not disclosed until you get the bill. While this is technically "legal" it's just another work around to adding a surcharge and I don't like it. Also the added “kitchen appreciation” add on was a nice surprise. If you need to add on an appreciation fee for your kitchen staff you’re not paying them enough. Come to find out it is an automatically "opt-in" fee that you have to ask to have removed. That is completely backwards anything like that should be Opt-IN not opt-out Tired of these great places doing stupid things when it’s $100 brunch tab for 2 people. The nickel and dimming on fees and add ons has to stop. Another 1-star automatically for these bad business practices regardless of the food and service. As a fellow merchant we both know you’re writing your merchant fees as a business expense on the books then adding them back to the customer. I’m going to guess your fees are at most 2.6% and more likely less. Also by adding more you’re just giving the processor more money you’re not helping anyone by adopting this practice.

Everything was simply wonderful. Excellent cocktails (not too sweet). The pork rinds were still popping at the table. The cauliflower appetizer was fantastic. Hubs started getting full. He also went with the steak (he dug in to quick) that was perfectly cooked. I opted for 2 small plates for my meal, the beet salad, and the most sweet and perfectly cooked scallops on mushroom and spaetzel. Service was attentive and keeped the pace flowing.
